Downstar Inc x Crown Customs Engine Bay

I've never been one to really care much about how an engine bay looks. At least to the extent of adding dress up bits to it. Not sure what really changed with this vehicle but here we are lol. The only time my hood is ever open is at the track cooling down or if I'm working on the car so I guess this really was a "for me" kinda mod that I never saw my self doing but I'm loving the looks of it.

First off I had a few pieces powder coated in Prismatic Powders "Splatter Black". This is a textured powder coat, very similar to wrinkle black but with more of a satin sheen finish. I'm blown away with how the pieces turned out and I owe it all to Crown Customs & Coatings in Wheeling, IL. They sprayed the strut bar, two V braces and the metal radiator shroud.

Next up was the Downstar dress up bolt kit. They offer a ton of color options but I didn't want something that would stand out too much. I don't think the center piece of the engine bay should be bolts and given I have no other colors popping I wanted it to stay subtle. I chose black washers and stainless bolts. It's very subdued but it's a nice touch when you notice it.

The combination of everything is well balanced to where nothing is hitting you in the face, aside from maybe the carbon intake tube due to the size. Overall though very pleased with how it looks!

That's exactly what I was going for. Something that compliments but doesn't overpower. Thanks!

Add yet another thing on my "to do" list lol

Don't suppose your friend that made the CF replacement piece for the RK Tunes intake tube is going to make any more, are they? Know I'd be interested...

I've never heard of a diff completely failing on its own. The bolts are sheering left and right which causes the diff to dismount. Taking the driveshaft with it.

A lot of people notice noises coming from the differential but it's even stated in the owners manual that they can cause noise when the drivetrain is loading or unloading force. Some dealers will replace it under warranty but most will not. It's hard to say if these cases are really failures or just people hearing the noise and thinking their diff has failed.
Obviously an impressive build, congrat's on it! Back to the diff bolt question, you're on the stock bolt or did i miss the upgrade in your thread? Again, super clean, super impressive build, luv it!

I am currently on the stock diff bushing. I replace the bolt every oil change with Belmtric bolts. They aren't a solution by any means but it's a temporary band-aid that's been working for me until I can decide on a bushing solution.

I'm on #4 and they do bend but I fortunately have not had one break on me.

Any particular thing keeping you from going the Einhorn Industries solid bushing route?

Wow, with that power and those times, interesting!
What length on bolt? Partial thread? I have the Einhorn sitting on my desk waiting to be installed but haven't due to the concern of NVH.

I don't want any added noise. Given it's winter in IL, I won't be tracking or even launching the car so I plan to hold out and see if any other solutions come to market by spring.

Sorry about that, I thought the link was direct. Partially threaded, 140mm.

Got it... sorry to be redundant and the answer is probably obvious but i'll ask anyway. This bolt is performing better then the factory stock bolt?

I can't say for sure. I've bent both OEM and Belmetric bolts. IIRC though, the Belmetric measures slightly thicker in diameter than the OEM which in return fills more of the void in the bushing/insert. I would look at it as more of a substitute rather than an upgrade.

Every factory wall change interval, or something shorter? Also, have you done the work yourself? It looks like there is plenty of room to just pop that bolt out and replace with a new one (provided you have the right wrench for final torque), but I don't know for sure. When I was under the car last installing my Dinan exhaust, I completely forgot to look.

It's really straight forward to do just make sure the differential is supported before you try pulling the bolt out. I put the rear wheels up on wheel cribs due to my car being so low.
