Great. Another ugly, useless model. How about a 2-liter Diesel instead?

So BMW is bring the F31 wagon (as a former E91 owner, makes me happy) and the X4. any word on the X1 yet?
Audi announced this week they are replacing the A4 Avant (wagon) with an A4 All-Road that is a bit more beefed up (not in engine though). AND bringing to the US a Q3 which i would assume to be somewhat similar in size to the X1.....
i do like the looks of the A4 All Road, but I am very happy w/ my X3 - nothing coming out would make me trade in... perhaps the only release that could get me something new is the X3 diesel and there is no word at all on that for the US.

2.0L diesels are coming to the US, don't know when exactly but they will come. The 35D appearently will not be coming.

BMW made an announcement today at the Greer, SC plant announcing new investment, additional jobs and the fact that the new X4 will indeed be produced there.
They also announced the 2 millionth car at the Greer plant rolled off the assembly line today. A red X3 35i...

Lotus7 wroteI think part of the problem with the X6 is that it's so crazy expensive.Surprised that BWM is going forward with the X4 intro since the X6 turned out to be such a non-event. Hope the X4 does not show up on the 10 Biggest Bombs List next year.
Edit: And what I mean by that is that the X6 is too expensive to be affordable by the bulk of the people it would appeal to. That doesn't necessarily explain why the ZDX has also done so poorly, although it is not purportedly as impressive of a vehicle as the X6 apart from appeal.

Lotus7 wroteIf memory serves me right the X6 has been a hit worldwide, I can remember where I read it where they passed 100k units in 2 years and this informs going ahead with the X4 and Merc and Audi coming with competitors. The bigger dud is the 5 series GT I wonder how many units they moved?Surprised that BWM is going forward with the X4 intro since the X6 turned out to be such a non-event. The X6 was never created for sales numbers. It made for the purpose of creating a new segment in the automotive market that tailored to those that need an SUV but wanted a coupe like vehicle. It didn't make BMW but it certainly put BMW ahead of it's competition by creating something as a viable option to those in the market. That itself has probably retained some customers who possibly didn't like the looks of the X5, or were sick of the ordinary cookie cutter look of today's vehicles.
The X6 itself is a wonderful unit. I personally love it and would of chosen it over the X3 if it didn't have such a heavy price tag. I love the way it drives, the way it handles and best of all the looks.
Looks is very subjective, and out of all that's available out there on this market, the X6 does still look the best.

They are coming, although it's not official, the 2.0L diesels will assist with the heavy 2015 and 2020 CAFE standards.
