I really don't want to drill holes in my front bumper. Any suggestions out there?

There are actually 2 points under the bumper (using 2 existing screws) that could be used as mounting points for a front licence plate bracket.

I thought about something similar to these designs:

On our 540, we use the tow hook screw to mount a special bracket.

I ordered a STO N SHO Front License Plate Bracket from Amazon. It's quite expensive and way over priced for what it is ($99.99), but it does offer an alternative to drilling.

The attachment points are two screws under the car.

Looks good but what is the ground clearance?

Was it necessary to attach the plastic OE bracket to the S-N-S frame to hold the plate?

The ground clearance is the same as the bottom of the front bumper, which is about 10 inches from the ground.

No. I have the OE bracket on until my license plates arrive. It'd look funny driving around with X shaped thingy on front.

Another thing that I don't like about the bracket, other than that it's overly priced, is that the license plate and the bracket can be easily stolen by a simple pull of the pull pin underneath.

Yes. I like the attachment, but am concerned about the quick release feature. Is there some way you can delete the pull pin to make the fitting more permanent?

I'm not sure it's a good thing to find a permanent fitting solution. The product warning states that the bracket needs to be removed when taking the car into a carwash. If you never use a carwash or ever see a need to detach the bracket for whatever reasons, then one permanent solution could be soldering the area where the rods slide into or using a loctite.

This is what I did this morning: I simply turned the front bracket upside down and zip-tied it. Fits snugly.

That'd work! I'd change the zip tie with steel wires, though, as zip ties get brittle with time and snap off.

Looks like a good option at a GREAT price. Well done. Does it interfere with any of the shuttered vents?

Today, I installed the front plate bracket (flipped upside down) using the wire cable zip ties then mounted the plate to the bracket. Works great and looks good..
