Anyone have the 35i with Sport Activity and no DHP in the US?
I want to see if we can get a definitive answer with regard to whether the 35i with Sport Activity Pkg. and no Dynamic Handling Pkg. {in the US} has the Dynamic Driving control switch gear on the console.
So, does anyone have this configuration and if so, can you post a picture of your center console? Thanks in advance. |

Well, we have the X35 with the sport activity package without the DHP and we have a normal, sport, and sport+ button on the console and indicators on the driver display. There are also settings to customize the sport and sport+ buttons. Don't see what the DHP buys you for the money. We did the complete high speed and maneuvering courses in the SC in an X35 without any problem in normal mode.

Really?
I was hoping this is true true. So, the only thing you don't have is the dynamic damper control and the variable sports steering? I have a 35i on order and thought the toggle switch might be there up until I wrote my reply. but there has been a lot of back and forth on the topic. I also read the manual and that's not clear either. Can you take a picture of your center console? And finally, thanks for this info. |

I drove the 35i on my test drive with the sport activity package and no DHP and it had the sport switch on the console. I took a quick interior picture when I had it if that helps you at all.

Very nice. Thanks for the image. Question answered. Thanks to you and acer2974. Maybe i'm the only one who cared but I thought this was kind of a big deal given the US configurator does not show the control unless you have DHP selected.

This was discussed in another thread.
http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513681 In a 35i only, with SAP and no DHP, you get the switch but it does not include damper control so therefore it does not change the suspension. Only steering and transmission changes are effected by the switch. The 28i does not get the switch with SAP only. |

That car does have the DHP....you cannot get "the sport switch," as you so pedestrianly refer to it, without the Dynamic Handling Package. Whatever that Sales Associate said to you, it was a lie.

I'm telling you, somebody fucked up the sticker. That configuration is not allowed. Here's a picture of the Build Your Own, where without the Dynamic Handling Package but with the Sports Activity Package, the switches are not next to the shifter. The second picture shows it with the Sports Activity Package and the Dynamic Handling Package, and as you can see, the switches are then there. |

As well, you should know that when I built my car, even though I had selected the Dynamic Handling Package, it did not show up on the list on the Track Your BMW, but then it arrived with the Dynamic Handling Package. That person must have been mistaken. |

The configurator pictures are WRONG. I've driven 2 vehicles without DHP and they both had the switch.

As well, if you notice closely, the bmwusa configurator shows a euro-spec interior, with the dual foglight switch. The American models do not have that. Having done some reading, it is that without the DHP, one does not get VDC but does get DDC, and only if one orders the DHP can they also get VDC. If one orders a 28i, then the SAP does not offer any switches of that nature. So maybe it's a combination of Euro-spec and 28i infused laziness? |

http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513681 Not trying to argue over it, just pointing out that multiple people have the Sport Activity package with the switch and they do not have DHP. Both test vehicles I drove did not have DHP but had the switch. |

I too can confirm that w/ the sport activity pkg but no DHP in the 3.5i you still get the normal/sport/sport+ switch. That is how I ordered mine, and second guessed my order for omitting the DHP...when I picked it up and saw it there, I at first thought the dealer messed up and I got a freebie! No such luck, but it was still a very pleasant suprise to have, and even without the dampener, there is still a very noticable change in the dynamics-to me anyway....haven't driven one w/ the DHP, but the change from normal to sport in mine makes it much more 'jumpy'! and jumpy is a good thing....
apologies if I used any...pedestrian...terms.... |
