Proof this company really doesn't understand the market, like many of their decisions over the last few years.

Or perhaps wise not to bring the iX3 here to avoid the headlines of another Tesla beating BMW at its own game.

In this way specifically, I think BEVs produced by legacy manufacturers have a more difficult time winning shoppers' "dollars available to buy." The iX3 has to compete against the X3 only feet away. When you're at a Tesla dealer, you're in a BEV bubble... you likely had some awareness of BEVs before you ever talked to a Tesla salesperson... and that Tesla salesperson has an absolute EV bias. Take it from a career salesperson, selling a single technology is a much easier sales pitch. The BMW salesperson has to demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of both platforms. Much tougher for the not only the salesperson, but the BEV.

Batteries are the name of the EV game, and BMW is currently smack behind the eight ball.

Guys, don’t get discouraged. i4 and iNext will both be the real deal. iX3 was not a serious EV effort, it was to comply with the strict european emission standards.

They are clearly 3-5 years behind on battery technology and supply. Fortunately BMW have lots of cash, and therefore time to catch up. Hopefully this doesn't turn into another RIM / Blackberry situation where they come out with a series of duds due to lack of market insight and inaction. |

A seriously lost opportunity for BMW.

American EV fanboys might view this as "a seriously lost opportunity" for themselves, but there's zero loss for BMW if they can sell all they can make in other parts of the world.
