Ok so this seems like a recurring theme lately that I procrastinate updating this thread. If you follow my socials you have likely already saw but it's worthy of posting here as well! This is going to be a lengthy one so buckle up!
My journey and vision with this car has really transformed into a drag and drive vehicle that I still daily drive. One of the key aspects to making that possible is wheel and tires.
Venturing down that path, I've had many visions for what I want it to look like and how I wanted it to perform. The Advan GT's with Nitto NT555R2 were a great combination and quite frankly more than enough for most but I wanted to push further. I wanted to go even lighter with even stickier tires. After many renders, revisions and countless hours of research and development I settled on what is my ultimate drag pack for the X3M / X4M.
With the help from my friends over at LFI Wheels, we were able to build a set of custom spec TRS01 18" wheels to put on the rear of the X3M and to be paired with my existing 20" front wheels. After a lot of back and forth with measurements to ensure maximum clearance we landed on a final design.
Now let me preface this...
** Not all 18" wheels will clear the rear of these vehicles. The barrel to caliper clearance is extremely tight and really comes down to the profile and design on the barrel of the wheel. Approach at your own risk. **
Specs:
LFI TRS01
Front:
20x9.5 et18 with 275/40/20 Nitto NT555R2
Rear:
18x10 et27 with 305/45/18 Mickey Thompson ET Street R
Comparison and Data
First Comparison: total weight savings going from Advan to LFI.
Advan GT Beyond
20x9.5 et 28 / 20x10.5 et32
Nitto NT555R2
275/40/20 / 315/35/20
Total Weight: 226.0 lbs
LFI TRS01
20x9.5 et18 / 18x10 et27
Nitto NT555R2 & Mickey Thompson ET Street R
275/40/20 / 305/45/18
Total Weight: 206.7 lbs
A grand total of 19.3 lbs of rotational mass!!
Second Comparison: 60ft times on the street. All of my runs are done on the same surface, at the same spot. To put it into perspective, my previous best of a 1.57 on the street is one of the fastest 60fts I've seen from the X3M / X4M platform as whole.
- Best Advan GT 60ft: 1.57s
- Best LFI 60ft: 1.53s
Cracking off a 1.53 is blistering fast as I've tried dozens of times with my Advan setup. I typically would run 1.59s on average and now the drag pack is doing 1.53 now with ease. I'm sure I can better it even further with more seat time.
Third Comparison: 60ft and 0-60 times on a prepped track. Same track, different conditions. Same ECU file and performance modifications.
- Best Advan GT 60ft: 1.489s
- Best LFI 60ft: 1.493s
My personal best 60ft was with the Advan GT doing a 1.489s. This was after many track days and dozens of passes to really learn this setup. The prep was really good that night and I was never able to replicate it after that. Most of the time I'm running 1.50-1.51 consistently.
With the LFI drag pack, I ran two 1.49s 60fts on the same day. This was with really poor prep and very cold track conditions (not ideal). This was also my second time out on this setup, literally my 3rd pass. With more seat time I am confident these will go mid to low 1.4s.
From a 0-60mph standpoint, I managed to pick up over a tenth of a second from just wheels and tires which at this level is super impressive!
- Best Advan GT 0-60mph: 2.46s
- Best LFI 0-60mph: 2.34s
New Personal Best and New Stock Turbo X3M World Record!
Along the testing journey I was able to retake the X3M Stock Turbo World Record back from my good friend Dawgs. Running a new personal track best of 9.93 @ 136mph! It's worth noting too I ran a new personal best on Dragy as well of a 9.91 which was shared above!
https://www.instagram.com/p/Cy9KtUkvbMO/
Overall I look forward to pushing this setup even further and can't wait to get back to the track next year when it reopens.
In the mean time, enjoy some photos!

Its been a while since I've uploaded a photoset so here ya go!
I swapped to American Panda Design emblem roundels but other than that haven't really changed anything on the car. Really enjoying how it sits currently.

JL Audio 10” TW1 Powered Subwoofer Install
Post install update: I just realized the ground/power/signal terminal distribution block on the JL subwoofer is removable... So if you want to replicate this setup you don't need the quick connects. Just pull the block off of the sub box and you're good to go.
It’s been over a decade since I’ve done a sound system in my vehicles but recently, I’ve had the itch for something more. I’m not an audiophile by any means so this isn’t going to be a sophisticated setup or one tuned to it’s max potential. To be fair I’ve never had any problems with the factory HK sound system it just leaves a little to be desired in the bass department.
I looked into the Bavsound, Focal, etc factory replacement subwoofers and they have their place in the market but after hearing them in person I don’t think it would scratch my itch entirely.
My goals with this setup:
Laying the box into the spare tire compartment it fit snug at the rear near the battery and sat just on top of the centering blocks for the spare tire. My plan was to cut away a section of the centering blocks and use that was a brace so the box can’t slide around. Needless to say it fit perfectly.
I used a drywall saw to cut off the rear section of the blocks. The cut ended up being right at 2” from the front most point (see photos). This allowed me to wedge the box into the space and the centering blocks to hold it in place. I did have to shave quite a bit out of the rear section to get the box as low as possible so the trunk floor would clear. I used an electric band file to cut away as little as possible so it would still fit snug but ultimately sit flat on the foam floor. The end result, the box fits very snug and is low enough that the trunk floor still latches.
For wiring, utilize a quick connector for the power, signal and ground so I can easily remove the subwoofer enclosure and not have exposed wires. I went with the Technic PNP NBT Option 688 harness with Add-a-sub and LOC150i. There are a lot of write ups on these so won’t go into too much detail. It connects to the factor amp and has a breakout harness to the LOC. The LOC then gets wired into power, ground and signal which I fed into the quick connector. I ran the positive and negative wires directly to the top battery posts (forgot to grab photos). Lastly an inline fuse for the power going to the battery and viola it’s complete. The turn on signal on the amp is set to remote from the LOC which turns off 30 seconds after the car is shut off.
First impressions, I'm really happy how this turned out. It's completely hidden away and very easily removable. The bass has a very nice punch without being over the top. I have the gain pretty low on the amp and roughly 30% on the LOC. Full disclosure I do not know how to tune these so going to have a buddy with more audio background help me next time I see him. For now I would say its on the low side but still hits very nicely. It a night and day improvement over factory replacement options. I don't notice any rattles or anything besides my license plate which I plan to add foam backing to. Overall very pleased!

My goals with this setup:
- I’m not looking for rear view mirror rattling bass but I want it to be clean, noticeable and most important controllable. I road trip very often so when I want to turn it down or even off, that’s a must. (hence the bass knob).
- I wanted the system to be completely hidden and easily reversible. I track my car often and don’t want the added weight of a fully integrated system remaining in the vehicle. (hence the sub+amp combo).

TacosRule! wroteUnfortunately it's not possible to fit the sub under the floor with the spare still in. I don't run my spare tire in the car anyway so that's not a big deal for me. If you do want to run the spare tire and hide the sub then the only option is like you did and go the side cubby route.did you try fitting the sub box in a way that would let you fit the spare?

This is awesome Brock & you rock man. Thank you for taking the time to show us another option that's available to us. This looks like it fit perfectly snug in that area. My rear cargo area was converted to the m-mobility kit. So I'll have to play around with some kits too at some point.

Brock, do you know how much extra power you’re making with the E50 tune, down pipes and exhaust vs a stage 1 E70 tune?
I couldn’t find any discussion on it in this thread or the tuning threads thus links to.
If I recall correctly, your X3M was originally tuned for a higher ethanol level (like mine) and stage 1, but over time it looks like the tuners found fuel volume was more important than octane from higher ethanol.
My car was one of the early ones tuned by Paul Johnson. Have been interested to put some DP’s on and go back for another go, but would love to know how much extra power is released when doing so.
FWIW, my car ran a 10.57 at 130mph.

BulkBen wroteI haven't heard of anyone running E70 on the stock fuel system. The sweet spot is E40-E50 for maximum power. Anything more than E50 you have to lower boost. That's why Paul has since moved away from E60 because you can run higher boost at E50 and not stress the fuel system as much.Brock, do you know how much extra power you’re making with the E50 tune, down pipes and exhaust vs a stage 1 E70 tune?

Downpipes aren't going to make a significant difference in power but that's up to you. The biggest difference would be retuning for E50 with his latest advancements. I've never dyno'd my car so I don't have a 1:1 comparison however I'd be willing to bet you would pick up 3-5mph on your trap speed.

I am pretty much slammed as low as I can go which is causing a slight rub in the rear even after trimming some of the fender liner so this setup is not recommended as a slap on and go. The sidewall profile on these is super meaty being a 315 so if you want something similar that doesn't rub I would recommend a PS4S or something with a more stretched sidewall design. I plan to raise the rear up a touuch and trim a little more but it should be rub free after that.
