Speaking of tinting windshield. I know it is not legal in most of the states, did anyone have troubles with that? What would be a reasonable tint for state like WA (where there is a lot of sun in summer and pretty dark in winter)?

NervoS wrotehere in the assbackwards state of texas, the pigs where i'm at are starting to measure light on the windshields. As it is with all ill-conceived laws here, pigs are not trained to properly use the meter. They also neglect to learn that all factory windshields already have a solar tint, which diminishes light transfer. No glass has 100% light transfer.Speaking of tinting windshield. Most importantly, the law by txdot is super vague:
"A clear (un-tinted) UV film is allowed anywhere on the front windshield without a medical exemption being required"
but also say
"Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a light transmittance value of 25% or more.
Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a luminous reflectance value of 25% or less."
A 70% xpel looks completely optically clear, but the law says you can have anything over 25% or more transfer. Nowhere does it say "with medical prescription" or akin.
I know people have been ticketed for having a tint measuring 65 combined (70% measured at the glass + factory solar tint) so they paid 100 bucks to peel the tint, show the receipt to the court clerk, turn around and get re-tinted. Too much money wasted. My xpel shop said stay with 80% xpel and you'll be ok. I tried it, it barely blocks heat and UV.
Then you have other stuff like exoshield, which I have. There are no laws against that, yet....

NervoS wroteI haven't had any issues in my area with 40% tint on the windshield. You could go with 50-75% and reduce most of the heat while still having plenty of visibility.Speaking of tinting windshield. NervoS wroteI've never been hit for windshield. I normally do the 75-80 ceramic for heat reduction. My TRX has 50% and I love it. Alright here we go! The new kicks are mounted and holy crap I'm in love
BC Forged TD02 Monoblock
Brushed Grey with Diamond Cut lips
Front:
21x10 ET16 (28.1lbs)
285/35/21 Michelin PS4S (28lbs)
Rear:
21x10.5 ET20 (28.1lbs)
295/35/21 Michelin PS4S (31lbs)
A massive thanks to Ben (Mops) at Nemesis Autosport and Dan at BC Forged NA. I've purchased all of my wheels from Ben and he can source just about everything under the sun. Awesome guy and awesome pricing.
Disclaimer: These specs are quite aggressive, especially at my ride height. I usually am comfortable recommending my setups to others but this one will be approach at your own risk. The inner fender lips on my car have been trimmed and taken down to allow for more clearance. I don't think this would be possible without modifying them, at least not running this low.
That being said, no rubbing over here! Enjoy
