I know there is probably a thread, I'm sorry for making a new one, if somebody could link one I would appreciate it...
I want to run flex fuel. I will upgrade to the TU pump, I want to aim for e30-e50 on bm3. I will also be running a catless DP, I have an MST intake and an upgraded charge pipe. My questions are...
1. Is BM3 capabale of running flex fuel for the gen 1 b58 with their hardware kit? (I have seen mixed respionses on this)
2. Will the rest of the stock hardware be able to keep up with this fueling? (Spark plugs not gapped, injectors, TU pump etc.)
3. Will the tune automatically adjust its power if I only put 93 in the car or will I have to flash the 93 map back on the car...? (Note, I don't plan on running more than e50 at any given time)
4. Realistically, I am shooting for 450 WHP. Is this possible with the mods I want to do?
I know somebody will be laughing at these basic questions but the conflicting info I have seen has me questioning a few decisions.. thanks in advance

It wouldn’t hurt to upgrade your coils and spark plugs are cheap, also need to be done more often on e mix.I know there is probably a thread, I'm sorry for making a new one, if somebody could link one I would appreciate it...

But yeah u can run e mix on stock turbos. You’ll see a big difference.. but I’d recommend getting a tuner to help you do it even if you use bm3

bm3 + E-tune --> not good
go with mhd instead, unless bm3 is already paid for.

lakerzfan_24 wroteI’ve been running a e50 custom tune through bm3 with no issues, bm3 app even got redone recently and is quite nice. I can’t comment on their OTS e mix tunes however.May I ask why?

I believe OP has now moved on to a "custom" tune setup, with the aftermarket turbo unit.

1.) I don't know. I used the Dorch kit and had issues with BM3, but no issues with MHD. Keep in mind that the closer the sensor is to the injectors, the safer it is. Otherwise you are reading fuel that your engine will see in a minute or so. This means that for a minute or so during driving:
1a.) If you had E50 in your tank and then fill up with 93, the sensor will read 93 out of your tank but you will still be injecting E50. This will cause you to run lean.
1b.) If you had 93 in your tank and you full up with E50, the sensor will read E50 while you are spraying 93. This will lead to boost and timing above what the 93 can handle.
2.) This all depends on the tune. But assuming the tune is proper, then yes absolutely. Note that maximum power is somewhere around E40 given the setup you mention.
3.) Yes! It wil automatically adjust. No more needing to hit the E% exactly. Yo can get close to your desired an no issues. Or if you have some E mix in your car but your friend fills up with 93...no issues it will automatically adjust. Its great.
4.) No idea on the number, but I can promise you butt dyno will be happy

abbike18 wroteCool so it looks like MHD it is. I wonder if the TU pump will keep up with the Dorch flex fuel kit. I don't really want to spend all that money on the Dorch stage 2 pump as I worry if I go back to a stock map the fuel pump will not work all the best with the stock map. Any input on this? Thanks again..Sure thing:

lakerzfan_24 wroteIt's all about the tune. The Dorch flex fuel kit is only an ethanol content analyzer. If your tune is set up for a TU pump, then everything should keep up. Note that the MHD OTS maps are set up for the TU pump, so you should be ok. I've tested them up to about E40 and was golden. (Note that I have a custom tune now)Cool so it looks like MHD it is. lakerzfan_24 wroteHe's correct I have the Dorch stage 2 hpfp because the TU pump wasn't sufficient for my setup but im swapped turbos and tuned to the tits lol. I had bought a TU pump and ended up having a few issues with it not supplying enough fuel but if i was without turbo setup, etc TU would have been sufficient bm3 or mhd. I'm also on a custom tune now, which I think is the best way to go with e-mixes if you can find a reliable tuner, or go with one of the commercially popular ones (f80paul, etc.)Cool so it looks like MHD it is. I've met and read stories from people who went e-mix incorrectly and caused fuel injector issues. Not a cheap lesson to learn so best to be cautious.
One thing for certain, mhd or bm3, once you go ethanol mix, it will be difficult for you to go back lol. What a dramatic change
might take me a few more minutes at the pump but fast guy problems.lakerzfan_24
