I have an iPhone 11 pro and the wireless charging pad is a bit too big to ensure appropriate positioning when simply placing the phone in the tray. Often the phone will be too far forward to be in a position to actually charge. I've made a simple work around using black rubber bumpers purchased on Amazon. This is probably not necessary with larger phones such as the Max series iPhones, etc. I thought I'd share.
These are the bumpers. I've used the smaller ones in this setup.

Sorry about the positioning of the pictures. They appear the correct orientation everywhere else.

Nice work, but just curious, won't your iPhone overheat when wireless charging while in CarPlay navigation? Mine will become super hot and disconnect from CarPlay after around 30mins..

jimmmyzhou wroteMine does not get hot. I use a silicone case case at the moment. I have noticed heat with thick cases (otter) and leather cases. Any type of metal object, like a magnet, in the case will cause significant heat generation.Nice work, but just curious, won't your iPhone overheat when wireless charging while in CarPlay navigation? Kinsella wroteThe way around this is to load them to your desk top, rotate 360 degrees, save and load.Sorry about the positioning of the pictures. They appear the correct orientation everywhere else.

davidoff86 wroteIt's not so much about staying put. The phone doesn't slide around in the tray bumpers or not. The bumpers act to ensure position the phone over the center of the wireless charging module when putting the phone in. Without them, unless I am moderately careful about how I place the phone in the cradle, it will often be too far forward and won't charge. This way I can basically toss the phone in there without much thought and it will be in the appropriate position. It's a lazy hack.clever! i have one of those silicon cases on mine, so it seems to stay put really well.

Now, the Phytonic blue + recent snowfall has the outside looking pretty gnarly.clever! i have one of those silicon cases on mine, so it seems to stay put really well.

This is a great idea! Now if we can do something about the slow charge.

Good idea, but wouldn't just two of those rubber things have done the job?

The newest iPhones have “MagSafe” so either the phone or charging pad (or both?) have magnets so phone is always attracted to and stuck to the sweet spot. I don’t have the newest phone but would jump on it if there was any chance BMW saw this coming and the charging pad works with MagSafe??
