I have not hand a chance to see or feel the Merino leather colors available in the X3. My dealer only has them in Vernasca.

I am interested in Vernasca Cognac or Tartufo Merino. In Canada the Merino is $1200 more and I believe the leather extends further than the Vernasca in terms of coverage.

The Vernasca is definitely not high end leather. It felt just ok to the hand. Is Merino a huge upgrade in feel? We have a 19 Volvo XC90 Inscription that comes with Nappa leather. Softest i've felt. I doubt even the merino will be close to the volvo nappa but curious on what others think!

Thanks

Jeff

my last X4 had Vernasca, my car before that was a XC60R with napa, my current is an X4M40i with red/black Merino. these are the best leather seats I have ever had, for me just the red black combination was worth the cost. it is one of my most favored things about this car and everyone who gets in it comments on how good they look and feel. for me it was and is worth every penny.

The look and feel is better, but for me the main reason to order it is that lovely real leather smell, it just makes the car feel so special.

Also I think the X3's interior needs something to make it a bit more special.

I spec’d the Tartufo Merino in mine. For me it creates a much much more “special & premium feel”. It also smells great and is very soft

Great, that Tartfufo looks great. The diamond stitching adds a nice touch too. I think I will spec that :)

Other question: would the Merino leather in an X3 be the exact same as Merino leather is other higher end BMW's such as the 5 or 7 series? MY dealer should have some Merino in other models but I want to be sure they are of same quality across models...

Just an FYI, it's only $700 more if you spec with the Ultimate Package.

Meriting the UK is an extra £900 and definitely worth the additional cost. Thinking that the Vernasca would be good enough and skipping the Merino is my biggest regret.

Gah, I wish I never read your comment. lol

Kicking myself knowing that it would have only been $700 more. I spec'd the ultimate package with black vernasca ventilated seats. The seats and leather choice is also my biggest regret

The extended Merino is definitely worth the $700 upgrade. It is much nicer than the Vernasca, but not as soft as the Napa in my Audi. However, I expect the Merino to hold up better than the Napa.

Thanks for all the comments. I think you have me sold :)

Weird that this is not available in the US! Must be a supply issue, BMW probably can`t supply enough of it for such a large market so they only allow it in smaller markets. Maybe?

Hard to say, it could be for a variety of reasons but I doubt we will find out the real one. Merino leather is nicer than Nappa mainly because it doesn't crease as easily. Both are very soft, it really comes down to preference.

wait what? Why would they only make it available for the 30i?

Is there a chance you can get it on the 40i?
