Update on MPG
Just returned from 1800 mile road trip to south of France and back.
Cruised at 80mph most of the time, 40.2mpg so well pleased with that. (not mph!)
That’s good at that speed-I just love the French motorways. Presumably the reading is actual, and not car computer which is up to 5% optimistic in mine. Just completed 1700 miles to and around North Scotland coast, mainly open road for an average 41.6, but kept to 70-75mph on Motorways. Anything over 70mph seems to chew up the juice, but of course that’s expected. Have done 2800 miles so far in two months of which 10% is London urban driving giving average 39.5mpg which is really great considering the size/weight of the car.

About 1400 miles was autoroute/RN driving at 80mph the rest was local driving around.

The real joy was a run on a single road RN - got to give it some and it was a fantastic to pass lorries with such ease.........

Just an update.....
Still thrilled with the car, and the dealer.

Never reset car comp and it reports we get 39.2mpg. We dont do much round town and on trips it always does over 41mpg cruising at 80+ so really pleased.

Still amazed by the auto - it is a lot of fun in DS too.

Planning to keep for another 2 years and expecting to get a 2017 X3.
My daughter may well take on this one. Will only be around 50K miles.

We have winter tyres which really are worth having even here in the SW. Yes its only snows once a year (maybe) and is only really cold for a week or 2 but the improved performance is well worth having and as we are keeping the car the cost is negligible.

Well we have now added an i3 to our garage which makes it easy to say which car your taking out ..... just taking the i out dear....lol.
Will be keeping the X3 until at least 2017 and depending on the new X3 I thing we may just keep both for now. Its a real joy have 2 BMWs as it is so easy to switch from one to the other.
The i3 is quick and fun around town, and comfort access is much more useful then I thought it would be. While the X3 is just great for longer trips.. Spoilt yes, Happy definitely.

taking both away next week and will cross post pics of the 2 on the beach...

Well its is to close to call between the 2 - for us it really is the perfect combination. We work in town and drive short distance between multiple locations - for that the i3 is fast, fun and fab - its like it is on steroids... also good for short commutes but..

We regular drive to Bristol & London and also holiday in France and for that the X3 is just as much fun and so capable. We do feel that for us they both just work.

I think we will hold onto both until the new X3 is released and get a hybrid version which should be amazing fun.....

will let you know....

So another year on 47k miles and still loving it. Have done 8k miles in i3 and loving that too.
The talk of an X3 with idrive would clinch it for me - looks like thats a year or so away so really happy to just hold on to X3.

Thanks...
Had no issues thus far and bodywork is still in great condition.
Only had to change brake pads/discs and 2 tyres thus far so nothing major.

Well its over 5 years and has survived really well - we went to look at a new one yesterday and side by side comparison was really good - very little sign of aging - so pleased it looks like we going to get a big deal on an end of the line model......:happyanim:
