Interesting, the two colors I like the best are the white and the black. Ended up with a loaded X3 35i metallic black but if white was available I would have had a very hard decision.

Except in the pix above, those are not 309 wheels, they are 369M wheels which come with the MSport.

I haven't test driven the new X3 yet, but this M-Sport package in AW is quite fetching. I have a black sapphire M Sport X5, and this would make a nice garage partner!

You are right! The X3 would make a great garage partner to another BMW!

I love the M Sports package in AW. Somehow, I suspect AW in metallic looks better (as in more glossy)

The photos in the photoshoot pics look so much nicer - must be the lighting.

You can get a non-metallic paint to be as glossy as the metallic ones (more or less). The non-metallic paint finishes also have clear coat and you can polish that up very good. You might not get the same depth as the metallic colors, but the shine/gloss part can be pretty close.

I also love the AW on the X3 MSport, but my last 2 BMWs were AW and I felt I needed a change. Thus, Vermillion Red this time.

Besides, there is getting to lot of white cars, at least around here.

Yikes... I do not like seeing the black fasteners in the wheel wells of the M Sport version. Looks Detroit-ish. Also all the body color bits seem too busy with too many seams. The gap of the rocker panel to the door frame is inconsistent from front to back as well. Probably works better on a darker color, but not feeling it on the AW...

I may be misunderstanding your post - but there is no such thing as metallic Alpine White (not in BMW land). I have had two AW BMW's and the best way to describe the clean, polished look is "lustre".

For me, the M Sport is made for two colors: Black/White. Since I already have a black X5 M Sport that I have to keep clean... it's a no brainer.

I'm now waiting for my x3 m-sport (alpine White). Hopefully i'll have it by Sept.
