Just wanted to let you all know, just drove my X3 30 from Philly to Marathon. Very comfortable. But after 6 hours, your ass will get sore. MPG for that run was 33-34 mpg.

Now going from Marathon to Key West (lower speeds)… 42MPG!
Never thought it possible. About 700 miles to a tank!

Yes BMW’s do squeeze out great MPG & from the tank. However you probably will see that if you do the math when filling up the tank, that BMW’s computer calculations are a bit overly optimistic than your actual will show. Still great MPG when compared to it’s competitors but not as high as the dash shows.

I got right at 40 mpg yesterday on a 39 mile drive. Best I’ve had yet. Kept close to speed limits and on efficient mode. I was testing switching modes verbally. “Hey BMW…. Efficient mode “. It worked. I prefer the button on the console of my F10 to the menus, but I can get used to this also.

Yes, I felt the same "shocking" way when I moved from my 2004 MDX (15 mpg) to the X3 m50 :)

Great MPG, but are you not happy with the seats?

I got a similar mileage over the weekend on a road trip. 19.1 km/l translates to approx 45 MPG.

For UK members, the Honest John Real Mileage UK website is a data point for BMW real world MPG reported by users across different models. Unfortunately, there is no data as yet on the G45 or some of the entry 2.0 MHEV previous gen models.

I’ve always been impressed with the report MPG of my car, given the performance on tap, and the fact I don’t use Eco mode or drive like my granny. ;)

Looking at your screen cap, that’s about 31mpg UK ?

I drive is sport individual mode most of the time, and just flick the shifter to engage/disengage sport transmission mode. Average just over 50mpg UK on motorway centric journeys of any distance. I can’t recall what MPG I got from the G45 M50 I had for a week.

Unfortunately I’m addicted to torque, and that doesn’t help mpg lol ;)

It was provided by my dealership manager for an extended test drive, as I was looking at options, and they are very keen to move certain models.

Whist I didn’t take the numbers down, the M50 MPG wasn’t as good as my current X3, but I wasn’t expecting that.

Interesting move considering you have been the most vocal detractor of this car on this forum since it was released. I said a few months ago that the most vocal detractors of new models always end up eventually buying them, and then start blasting the next generation when it eventually comes out.

Here are my final results from Sept.

It was an opportunity to check stuff out first hand, as often forums make claims about stuff that doesn’t always reflect reality. I got to play with it for a week and see how features compared first hand, so why not save some miles on my car. :)

I don’t see a G45 in my future if that puts your mind at rest, but the new iX3….. who knows. ;)

Everything you hate about the G45 will be even worse with the iX3. Time to move on.
