I don't care about performance differences - rather long-term daily drivability / usability: comfort, interior quality (lack of rattles), tech, etc from someone who has spent time in both.

I have never had a Merc...die hard Porsche and BMW fan. But didn't like the seats and laggy nature of the X3M, otherwise would be in one. Looking to downsize a little off my 2018 X5M.

What year are you looking at? Unless something has changed and I missed it, there are no more glc63 v8. They were dropped until the new hybrid version is released. Are you looking at a new one on a lot somewhere?

There's a couple low mileage 2019's out there with remaining factory warranties.

Thx. I heard that as well. I do like this attribute tbh although will need to drive it and see the behavior on the merc vs the BMW DCT and Porsche PDK.

My experience exaclty w/ a GLC43 AMG. The wife was off it immediately. At low speed, the transmission acted... exactly like a manual... but I didn't have a clutch to soften the lurching. I don't remember it feeling that extreme in a 991.1 w/ pdk.

Thx. The pdk-s in the GT3 was a much different calibration than the pdk in the Turbo S. I got a trans tune to make my Turbo S "feel" more like my GT3. I like the BMW DCT feel of a more clunky but engaging trans.

I owned a 2019 GLC 63 AMG at the same time I owned a 2021 X4MC and a 2022 X4MC. I sold the GLC 63 a month or so ago because Driveway made me a ridiculous offer I couldn't pass up. The tech in the GLC 63 felt like a decade behind the X4MCs. In an odd way though, I sort of liked it - analog gauges, very spartan feel to it. The seats were comfortable, I did not experience any rattles and it was a good daily driver. The overall design though was, well, boring compared to the X4MCs in my opinion. It did not feel special in any way. Except for one area where it was hands down better - that SOUND. My lord. I honestly debated keeping it just for the sound. That is how awesome it is. I was able to overlook the finicky transmission and outdated interior simply to hear it downshift coming to a stoplight. All that being said, in the year or so I had both the overwhelming majority of the time I found myself grabbing the keys to one of the X4Ms over the GLC 63. I think you will find the X3M/X4M better in every single way except for the exhaust note. Just amazing.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I really wanted the X3M but i cannot for the life of me get comfortable in the seats. The side bolsters force my legs together and it pinches my junk. Weird sorry about that visual but it was a deal breaker. Seat HAS to be comfortable.

Tech wise I care mostly about Apple CarPlay and XM radio. I presume the 2019 merc has these.

^^this! I was looking to purchase the last few new 2021 GLC63s Coupe available a few months ago. It was basically for the v8 exhaust note and the front grill. I ended up passing on it due to the interior looking kind of dated compare to the newer Mercedes. Since the newer one isn't coming out with a v8 i ended up getting a x4m competition instead.

The GLC 63 seats were more comfortable. They didn't look as nice as the X4MC seats but the bolstering was less aggressive for sure. Almost non-existent actually. My GLC did NOT have Apple CarPlay but did have XM Radio. I do not recall if CarPlay was even an option. The tech in that regard left a lot to be desired. If you place importance on tech/infotainment at all, I can almost guarantee you will be disappointed. I mean you can get by with it but it is leagues below the BMW.

AMGs have a very special feeling to them. That said, Merc can't touch BMW in terms of reliability between the two models (From what I've seen when it comes to modding).

I had aftermarket wheels on mine. After a week of the new wheels being installed, my check engine light came on. Turns out the wheel shop measured wrong and the offset was wrong. The tire rubbed a hole in the fuel vapor return line in the gas tank. If it was a regular car, the hose would have been a couple hundred to fix. Being an AMG, The line was built into the gas tank.

That meant I had to get the ENTIRE gas tank and everything that came with it directly from Germany's AMG center, there was no other way to fix it. $5600 later, I sold it. I have ZERO reservations modding the X3M Comp, I would never mod an AMG again (As much as I loved it). If I was to leave my cars stock, I would get an AMG (They dont make V8 Bi Turbos in the GLC anymore). If you modify your cars, I'll take BMW reliability all day long!

Just hearing more stories about the reliability of these and needed an upgraded trans for more power was painful as much as I love how the GLC Coupe looks. At the price point of $94,000 Canadian and having needles still and an outdated infotainment, I had to say no even knowing the fact I can upgrade the infotainment but I would be paying an arm and a leg for something not exactly stable and work "OEM". Having more analog needles in a car that tries to be a bit more "tech" was a sure deal breaker for me. Many have told me to find a 2020 or 2021 model that has the new MBUX and the digital cluster but for an extra 20 to 30 thousand canadian? I'm better off with an X3M and have never looked back.

I was able to drive the snot out of the X3M back in 2020 and I was offered to do the same in the GLC.

AFAIK right now, C-Classes with the same NTG5.5 have carplay but the 2018-2019 GLC300/43/63 for some reason didn't get it. Also seems that even if whatever reason it can, it clashes with the Driver Assistance Package. My shop did one with just a flash from LCE Performance in Germany. Made some insane gains on pump 91 and unbelievable numbers when a couple gallons of Ethanol were poured in. From what I remember it made the same hp number as my M8 and I ran low 10's.

I traded my 21 GLC 63 Coupe and ordered my 22 X4M Comp. The two are similar in size and driving comfort. I haven't experienced the full potential of the X4 yet (still breaking in). but there is more torque below 2000 RPM in the GLC and there seems to be more high RPM power in the BMW. I totally agree that the sound of the GLC V8 is MUSIC and much better than the X4. I was happy with the Mercedes performance but the reliability was not good!
The car was in the shop for minor problems 4 times in the year I owned it, and never corrected. Both are great cars but I will never look back, love the X4M. Good Luck!
