I got ceramic legal in NC (35%) on the front doors. It's just enough. Love it. My digital cluster is very sensitive especially in the morning or sunset with the sun being weird. I don't think the tint caused it. Lol
I just had my tint done today as well. All ceramic, 70% windshield, 50% added to the rears and 25% on the front.

One comment my tinter made when I picked it up was "absolutely no windex ever" or other ammonia-based window cleaners. Anyone have a recommendation for an alternative cleaner? Now I am paranoid about taking it to hand wash car wash or detailer.
I use this and I love it. I use it to "wash" my whole car. When you use it on any surface it will be very smooth to the touch. All you need is 1 spray on the surface that you want to clean and safe on any surface except satin, matte, or flat finishes. Click on the image to view the whole product picture.

I tinted my 21' with 3M Ceramic IR on the front windows to match the back. Most of the time I am able to see the Live Cockpit Pro, but tit depends on where the sun hits, it will dim the dash. I live in NY and got a state medical exemption, for my son's sensitivity to light, to able to tint the windows. It would not pass inspection otherwise. My wife's car is tinted with the same tint as well, I was able to pass inspection on hers with the exemption as well.

Definitely get Ceramic or some variant of - it REALLY helps with heat reflection. BIGTIME.

I don’t have any issues with dimming on mine. I have Xpel all around, even added tints over the factory ones in the back and 50% on the windshield.

I went with 35% ceramic tint and don’t have any issues, aside from at times the vents reflect in the side mirrors on sunny days, that seems really odd to me..

I just got my front windows tinted at 30% with Xpel Prime XR. Front windows are 70% stock...somehow the 30% on top makes the final % ~27ish. (I don't fully understand tint math lol). The front is slightly lighter than the stock 20% on the rear windows but very happy with it.

I also got the windshield strip done. My guys said they always do a 5 inch strip at 5% (limo tint). I rolled with that not putting any thought into it, but now it's been a week and I don't love it. In the dark I can't even see out the top of the windshield. I think I'm either going to have them cut it back to the A-S1 strip (like 2" higher) or remove it and replace with no more than 20% tint. 5% at 5" down feels like too much. Anyone else get the windshield strip???

Just got it done. Front at 20% to match the back.
Up close the back seem a little darker maybe because of all the light coming from front windshield.
Hey bro do you have a shop in NYC that will pass inspection lol?

ceramic all the way - "This is the Way"

I have 20 on the fronts, 35 on the rears, and 50 on the windshield (with a 5" strip @ 5%) and also on the sunroof panels.

Living in FL - such a grand difference vs cheaper tint or especially stock glass - no question! I'll never own another vehicle without ceramic tint regardless of where I'm located.

Im also struggling with making a decision. My f30 had limo/5% all around and 35% on the windshield. As ive gotten older its been hard to see out the front.

Im currently planning to do XR plus either 70 or 55 on the windsheild and sunroof - as far as the rest - either the same - or limo

in nj anything on the front/windshield is illegal - but i havent been stopped in over 4 years - so im very undecided

All this tinting talk. I am interested in getting my 22 X3 front windows tinted. I remember reading in another thread about the ambient lights in the door maybe being an issue after tinting. It seems like everybody here is fine. Is that correct?

No issues for me. I went with 20% xpel.
Now I am probably going to do the front windshield as well.

As long as you use a high quality ceramic tint you shouldn't have any issues. I also used XPEL XR Plus and have had zero issues.

Just tinted mine with xpel ceramic, 70% front windshield, 35% 2 front doors and whole roof and 20% for the entire rear. I had no problems yet with any dimming and the installer took their time and covered everything as to not get any water through the doors or dash.

I read through most of the tint posts and didn't see the answer to this...are the front driver/passenger windows tinted at all from the factory? I'm going to have them tinted to 50% (to remain legal and it's a lease) and wasn't sure if they use a 50% tint it will end up darker of there is existing tint. It's hard to tell just by looking and it's been gloomy here recently making it even harder to tell.

The front 2 windows and windshield are not tinted and the rear is tinted from the factory for privacy. But all the glass does not have and heat or uv protection. If you decide to use carbon film it will just darken the glass, unless you get ceramic which will block 98% uv and heat.

I have my front driver and passenger tinted with 50% (legal in IL) but haven't had them measured. You could check with a local tint shop or one you intend to use and they could give you the info you're looking for.

The back windows measured at around 20% according to my tint shop.

Yeah, going with ceramic but not doing the tint for the UV or heat reasons, just for aesthetics
