Can anyone provide insight on whether a clear (70% technically) ceramic fiim on the windshield causes any problems with the heads up display or any of the safety features? I know on my Subaru Outback the tint shop recommended not doing the film on the windshield because it could affect the calibration of the cameras for the Eyesight (adaptive cruise control and emergency braking) systems.
Have our windshield tinted, and there is no part of the tint that covers the windshield cameras. It helped with HUD and polarized sunglasses to work better in conjunction with each other.

Also, not every where is it illegal to have your windshield tinted. It's not illegal in Texas as long as it's no more than 70%. Plus it also helps with safety. Yes, the windshield has the plastic in-between the two panes of glass, but it doesn't prevent any tiny glass fragments hitting you or your passengers if something hits the windshield on the outside.

Wanted to provide my experience as I recently got ceramic tint and was really torn between getting it and experiencing the dimming issue.

Opted to go through with the tint as the pros from that (heat rejection, visual appearance, etc) outweighed the cons of the dimming dash.

Ultimately I am experiencing the dimming issue and can’t consistently find a pattern yet on when it happens. It is definitely noticeable but IMO bearable for me. Honestly I ended up buying a USB charged mini book light to clip onto the driver side AC vent as the simplest remedy. I do live in SoCal

Llumar CTX 15% front, 35% rear, and Llumar Air80 windshield.

I tinted my 21' with 3M Ceramic IR on the front windows to match the back. Most of the time I am able to see the Live Cockpit Pro, but tit depends on where the sun hits, it will dim the dash. I live in NY and got a state medical exemption, for my son's sensitivity to light, to able to tint the windows. It would not pass inspection otherwise. My wife's car is tinted with the same tint as well, I was able to pass inspection on hers with the exemption as well.
Stumbled across your post, and am considering the same product and just front windows for my 23' X3 M40i. What tint % did you go with, and are you still happy with the product (3M Ceramic IR)?
