KrisK wroteHave our windshield tinted, and there is no part of the tint that covers the windshield cameras. It helped with HUD and polarized sunglasses to work better in conjunction with each other. Can anyone provide insight on whether a clear (70% technically) ceramic fiim on the windshield causes any problems with the heads up display or any of the safety features? I know on my Subaru Outback the tint shop recommended not doing the film on the windshield because it could affect the calibration of the cameras for the Eyesight (adaptive cruise control and emergency braking) systems.
Also, not every where is it illegal to have your windshield tinted. It's not illegal in Texas as long as it's no more than 70%. Plus it also helps with safety. Yes, the windshield has the plastic in-between the two panes of glass, but it doesn't prevent any tiny glass fragments hitting you or your passengers if something hits the windshield on the outside.
