Have to take a look, need something before winter. Those look similar to the cheaper, taller Thule racks, part of why I'd pay for an Aeroblade is its low profile.

Just an FYI: The OEM racks will not interfere with the sunroof operation. Thule has a warning that states that their low profile Aeroblade bars may interfere with the operation of the sunroof.
Thule warning:
Cars with sun roof: Due to the racks' low fit on the car, it may not be possible to open the sun roof when the racks are installed. Please check clearance before opening your sun roof.

I just recently added them for aesthetic purposes. I followed the spacing instructions as per the instructions on the bars. Haven't heard any noise from them up to 100.

For those who do get wind noise, it's highly dependent on the placement of the bars. A few inches one way or another along the rail can make a big difference.

Thanks for the info. I've been holding out for Yakima rail mounts due to the variety of accessories (ski, bike, kayak) I have that fit the Yakima system. With the money I save on the rack system I can buy clips to fit the Yakima accessories.

I never used a roof rack system before, looking for advice.
If I use the OEM Roof Rail system # 82-71-2-414-373, can I attach 3rd party carriers or boxes on roof?
I am most interested in 2 applications:
1) Kayaks (2)
2) Ski box
BMW OEM parts tend to be expensive, looking for any options for the rail and accessories that work together for G01 2018 X3

Go straigt to the source, thule.com
I've got their racks and skibox. The skibox can go on most racks though. No idea about how to transport Kayaks.

nogren wroteMust be. Thule and Yakima (but I think Thule is generally more expensive by a little bit) options are about twice as expensive as the OEM option. I only carry a box once every 1-2 years so going economical is more important than total ease of use. I'm thinking the OEM cross bars should work just fine with the feet that come with boxes. All the ones in the US I've seen all have these clamps that can fit a pretty wide variety of sized bars. You generally just crank them down and the clamps get tighter and tighter until they're holding onto the bars securely.

Just wondering if anyone is aware, or has already discovered themselves, if the Thule Wingbar roofbar setup I had on my F25 LCI MSport will fit the G01 Msport roofrails? I'm hoping they will as I only got to use them once on the F25. Thanks.

Just get a Thule Wind Deflector. Had this setup on my M4 and w/ the deflector/fairing, the noise disappeared. Plus, it looks cool too

Speedbird1 wroteF25, F30/F31, and G01 got the same rails, so as long as the bar is long enough (1135mm), it should work.
