Wouldn't the price of a hypothetical X2 M40i be more indicative?

DS_BMW wroteAgree. But comparing the price of any X4 to any 2 Series just seems wrong to me.They are M sport cars not true M cars. I hope it's like 49-50k.
It's like saying "The X6 costs $X, so therefore the M4 will cost $Y."
(Modulo the fact that the X4 M40i will have the same engine as the M2.)
And yes, if the M2 base price is $57K, then I'll skip it. I'd rather get an M235i and mod it slightly than blow $57K+ on a base M2.
I'm hoping there will be large and evenly spaced price gaps between base M235i, base M2, and base M4.
But, as always, adding any kind of options ("Technology" just for the nav, DCT, M Performance parts) will bring the M2 cost way up.

This looks like a $2700 premium over the "regular" X4 35i, equalized for the standard equipment on the X4 M40i.
Actually seems like a reasonable amount of money to pay for the extra 70 horses, if you were in the market for a loaded X4...

Porsche executives are laughing right now. At this price only a fool would choose this monstrosity over the Macan.

sjpaul wroteHmm, you're right. Not so bad, then, you just have to be in the market for the extras that are bundles in standard. Almost a no-brainer if you were in the market for an X4 35i, unless you wanted a base model. This looks like a $2700 premium over the "regular" X4 35i, equalized for the standard equipment on the X4 M40i.

I ll probably get X4 35i with all the options and get some exhaust upgrade for half the difference.
