Car Kicks out of 1st on rollout (135i 6MT)

Anyone have the car kick out of 1st when first starting to roll? This has happened to me a couple of times now when a traffic light changes and I start to roll, not even hard launches. I get a loud thud and it jumps out of gear. Yes, the stick was properly placed into first, the clutch is probably 75 - 85% let out when this happens. Any idea what might casue this? It's kind of hard to take it to a dealership for a problem I can't recreate at will so I really need to figure out what is going on here.

Interesting, thinking about it, any time it has happended was when I was going on a green turn arrow. I wonder if there is some sort of flex going on when cornering that misaligns the tranny.

Not that I like this at all, but I would rather have it happen in 2nd, in first coming off a light I'm likely to get rear-ended sooner or later.

This has happened to me twice now. In my case the wheels were straight both times.

I think I agree with you, but it hasn't happened to me since I posted the last. I'd already told myself the next time this happens it goes in, seeing that thread about the disintegrated clutch makes me wonder if it wasn't related.

yikes that's not good. I'm assuming that you DON'T have an aftermarket SSK?

I'll certainly mention the symptom at my service appointment in a couple months. But I hesitate to send a tech chasing down an extremely intermittent problem without an educated guess of what the cause might be.

If it starts occurring more frequently, is something I can replicate on demand, or becomes a known problem with a documented solution, then I will consider having it checked out throughly.

make sure that you are fully stopped before engaging first, or double clutch and blip the throttle to allow first to engage. It sounds like 1st isn't all the way in when you take off.
