The Owner's Manual says "The Owner's Manual for Navigation, Entertainment, Communication can be obtained as printed book from the service center." I asked for one for my 2018 and it arrived in the mail a few days later - no charge. But I just called and asked for one for my 2019 and was told that there will be a charge and they are looking into how much. Apparently most people don't ask for this, but I found the one for my 2018 useful. I am aware of the Integrated Owner's Manual but I much prefer sitting in my easy chair instead of in the car and reading something on good old fashioned paper which can be highlighted. Does anyone here know if there is generally a charge for this manual?

Thanks, Bob

I requested the same by calling my dealer. Was told it was $35.00. I asked them to order it and call me when it came in. That was over two months ago - not a call.

I want it, but it hasn't been a priority to call the dealership and beg them to do their job and ship it to me. Soon, though, as this is my first new BMW since my 06 X5...have no idea how to work all this new technology.

Someone reported that they were able to get a PDF version by calling a BMW Genius. Not quite as nice as the dead tree version, but better than nothing.

Also, there is the web version. Good for those especially desperate (or anxiously awaiting delivery :D).

I called the genius and they emailed me the PDF in one day. This was after waiting several weeks and no response from the dealer.

An alternative is to download the official BMW Driver's Guide App from App Store:

https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/bmw-drivers-guide/id714042570?mt=8

It is customized to your car and it is quite nice and easy to navigate.

You can also bookmark topics to go back to it quickly.

The App is the only version of manual i've used and the paper copy that came with the car is still wrapped in its original plastic wrap sitting on my desk. i've also downloaded all the associated videos and stored them in my phone for future reference.

The App manual only shows the options and features found in your own car. it also features a picture of the M40i in the exact color and wheel I chose, plus the VIN number.

Yeah, me too. And, imho, it's not especially well implemented nor is it well documented.

I'd much rather have the printed booklet. But I think I will try the Drivers App first. Then, if necessary, the PDF. And spend $35 only as a last resort.

Great idea. Being a brand new BMW owner I did not think of that but will certainly try it. Thanks.

Does the PDF for “Navigation, Communication and Entertainment” contain any content not in the App (which mirrors the printed version of the full owners manual, for the most part)? I’d call and get a PDF if there was additional content. Otherwise, pretty happy with the app version as it is searchable (content is another story).

So is the content different and more useful than what we get in the owners manual?

I believe dealerships in your country also get the printed vehicle model brochures. In the US, they haven't had those for years.
They say it's to save on trees, but the real reason is they are cheap. :mad0260:

Thanks guys. If any one of you whom get the full printed manuals can scan those and compare the content vs the App version, it would be great. I'm ok reading the manual in any media format, but I need to know if my App has all the information available, or is just an abbreviated version of the printed books...

Hmm...I would like to help my fellow man but scanning the whole guide!? I'll have to think about that - unless that's one of the guides that's the short one? Can't recall now, finished reading the guides back in Sept.

No I would not ask for the unreasonable of proof reading the whole thing, but maybe just checking the content list, and maybe spot check a couple of items would be easy enough? Thanks in advance.

I'll see what I can do - possibly Thurs but likely Friday

Ok, then maybe since we get the vehicles here in the US for a lower (often much lower) price than the ROW, we can't complain. :happyanim:
That's all I got.

Lol, yeah that's seems fair! I'd gladly give up all my manuals for $10,000 lower price!
