I don't think I'll ever buy a 100% BEV. I understand why BEVs will be bought by many people, if you're a 90% urban driver and you have a 2nd car for road trips.
Because I have to transport kids with family trips to the American west, the best car out there still is the Volvo XC90 PHEV with 3rd row seats. The battery size is just right for putting around town barely sipping fuel. And then you get the benefits of the ICE for the road trips. I believe the XC90 is the only 3rd row PHEV right now, other than the Pacifica minivan.

I find Kia's grill looks nothing like the BMW new grill, and definitely not better looking when you visualize the whole car. |

Plug-in X3
I'm more interested in a plug-in version of the G01, than an all-electric. I'm making some inferences from having collected some information:
1. The GO1 platform is made for an underfloor battery, so a plug-in battery should be there, just smaller than in the all-electric version. 2. It will continue with the 4 cyl integrated ICE drivetrain with RWD. A real interesting possibility could be the 3-cyl motor with no driveshaft and an electric motor for the rear. I have seen no speculation on the PHEV version of the GO1, but there certainly should be one and I would expect it to be released at about the same time as the replacement of the X5 40e and 330e. I expect new-gen batteries a la 2019 i3 at that time with longer all-electric ranges. |

The iX3 Concept is in Norway this week (along with the 8 series and new X5), I'm going to Oslo to see it on Saturday. Unfortunately no cameras allowed.
Anyway, BMW Norway said that pre-orders will be available very soon for Norwegian buyers |

That's cool, I'm really curious about the final design. I don't understand why such a iX3 should have a different design than a normal X3. Release is not going to be before 2020, right?

I think the final iX3 will look 99% like a standard X3, maybe with a more closed grille and some blue bits here and there. Would be expensive to make it too different.
2020 i think yes. |

Nice find
This looks more final than the previous one (which might have been the hybrid version). Filler cap on left side is gone too. Grille looks like on the concept though... |

The Achilles heal of this car will be not having access to the Tesla Supercharger network. If BMW is smart, they will do deal with Tesla to license access - Elon Musk has been very clear he's prepared to do such deals.
