You sound mad as hell. We all know you don’t get a cut on selling these useless services. The dealership does. At the end of the day you’re just a monkey holding a wrench following master (bmw) rules. So keep wrenching.

lol monkey with a wrench? that’s the best you got?

listen guy, you the one that sound mad. for whatever reason you felt the need to comment on a post and give your opinion on what your cheap ass does with how you “maintain” your car and throw shade at me for knowing more than you.

we get it, you own a BMW and got way in over head and can’t afford to keep your car up to proper spec. that’s on you, but for those that actually can afford their cars and want to maintain them for years to come will probably take my advice over yours.

It's not clear to me why an alignment would be needed after a wheel/tire swap.

However, my friend chatGPT agrees with him:

"You don’t need a new alignment if:
The new wheels and tires are the same size, offset, and overall diameter as the old ones.

No suspension components or steering parts were disturbed during the change.

You should get an alignment if:
The new wheels or tires are a different size, width, or offset, which could change suspension geometry or how the tires contact the road.

You notice changes in steering feel, pulling, or uneven tire wear after the swap.

You had to force anything during the wheel swap (like hitting stuck wheels or adjusting camber bolts).

You're going from worn to brand-new tires — especially if the old ones were severely uneven.

Bottom Line
If the new wheel/tire setup is significantly different from the old one, or you want to be 100% sure your suspension geometry is optimized (especially for handling or tire life), a fresh alignment is a smart move. Otherwise, you're probably fine skipping it.
" - chatGPT

That said, I have not and don't plan to get an alignment when I switch from summers to winters each yet.

Yep. This. It's mainly for starting fresh, and since it's typically been a while. I get an alignment after every fresh tire change.

1. With all due respect, ChatGPT is the last place I would refer to for a question related to the mechanical stuff of my car. Its notorious for providing plain wrong suggestions.
2. We all have different experiences, but it's also been discussed multiple times that bimmers are prone to get their alignment off from hitting just a few innocent-looking potholes. People have been reporting uneven tire wear on G01 all the time.

My personal choice is to do wheel alignment at least once a year when I switch from winters to summers.

Just IMO

I don't disagree with regular alignments. In fact, I had one done 18 months ago on my M40i (after lowering), I noticed uneven tire wear now, and needed a new alignment.

I received my wheels as well today. Maybe I am a bit nitpicky but two of the 4 have blemishes in the finish. Details below.

Wheel 1 - OK

Size: 364.7 KBName: Wheel1a.jpg
Views: 600
Size: 449.8 KB

Wheel 2 - Chip in paint but clear coat over it, blemishes in the finish.

I guess I ran out of limit to post more pictures but:

Wheel 3 - OK

Wheel 4 - Scuff marks on the side by the tire bead.

Overall great quality wheels and super light but 2 of the 4 having blemishes not ideal. Granted this can happen with the big boy brands as well.

Not perfect but you’re buying a high spec wheel at a fraction of the cost from a discount supplier.
I didn’t notice any imperfections on mine, so maybe easy for me to say.
At the end of the day they cost less than a set of tires that have zero value in 10k miles.
Enjoy them

The occasional piece of gravel will get picked up by the wheel and cause similar imperfections over time; I would just enjoy them because they look superb.

Did you use OEM lug bolts and what TPM did you get? I am starting to dig into that now.

You are totally right pretty cheap price for a good set of wheels.

My thoughts exactly. Plus I am sure the tire installer will probably put a few custom marks as well on the wheels.

I used the OEM lug bolts and bought Shrader 28238 TPMS from Rock Auto for $22.00 each. All worked fine.

I used my stock bolts on mine. I made sure to ask if they made the wheels with ball or conic bolts. I also ordered 4 SCHRADER tpms part number 28238 from rock auto. They are plug and play and didn't need any coding.

Nice. I will use my stock since I had to use different ones for the spacers.

I was wondering if anyone decided to upgrade the stock or use something else.

Schrader TPMS will be it.

I'd make a complaint about your wheels. Maybe you'll get two free wheels and you have some spares like the guy with Germany thing. You'll never know unless you ask

So far they said it’s difficult to ensure the wheels are flawless because of the shipping etc. and they have stopped responding so not ideal. At least to me they should replace the chipped wheel if not the rest because it failed QC since they just clear coated over it.

I am glad majority of people got no issues on their wheels.

Adding some of the current convo.

I think I may start a dispute with Alibaba or the cc if they don’t respond.

It's nice to see so many really good looking wheels arriving for everyone. My replacements have been finished and will be shipped any day now. Everything is right this time...the color, the spelling, the polished lip. Can't wait to get them installed.

Some cleaner shots of the style 37 20”s after H&R springs installed. These would really pop on a darker paint color x3m

Next group buy?

Hey deviation01:

Out of curiosity, was this the seller that you were speaking with? Also, anyone else looking to get a set of wheels?

Cheers,

David

Some sample pictures of what they have made below. You can go with specific wheel or they can custom make one based on your specs.

Group Buy Details

  • 10 participants we get 10% discount, 15 we get 15% discount.
  • Pricing on wheels depend on the wheel design you pick. Pricing is already pretty low, I was interested in BBS ci-r design and they said for all 4 it would be $1020. Very good price point for 4 wheels.
  • Forging blank is aviation-grade 6061-T6 aluminum alloy (custom forged can be build to any car so not limited to X3/4s only.)
  • Shipping 200-250 subject to change with tariffs and size type of wheels. Can ship to US and CA. 30 days by boat.
  • You will purchase through Alibaba link giving protection to buyer and seller.
  • 15-20 days to manufacture.

Currently I am gathering interest. Once we hit 15 I will circle back with asking for confirmations. As you recall the CSZ exhaust moved pretty fast so I expect this to be quick as well.

10/10 closed

Let me know if you have any questions. I think this is a great opportunity to get custom forged wheel with the specs you may want or desire.

You got it. I am still going back and forth with them but they will replace the two wheels that have issues. The issue is they were upgrading their painting tools and outsourced to another painter and they were not very good. In two weeks they will have their paint setup complete.

Jb427 those look really nice.
