New order details
Last weekend I placed an order for a new X3 and yesterday I got the Production # from the salesman. When I tried to look it up in Owner's Circle, all I can see is that the color is Alpine White (which isn't the color I ordered) and it says that it's "On Order" and hasn't started production. Should I be concerned that the color is wrong, or does the system default to Alpine White? None of the other options show either. I called the 800 number and they said they don't have any details. Unfortunately the dealer isn't nearby and I haven't been able to get the salesman on the phone.

I wouldn't lose sleep until you hear back from your salesman. When my order tracking changed from "At Preparation Center" to "At Your BMW Dealer", the Dynamic Handling Package mysteriously vanished from my selected options. I immediately sent my salesman an "email of concern" and he confirmed that the car arrived as ordered (incl. DHP). Not sure how the website gets updated but it's certainly not the gospel. Also, there was a 3-day delay from when my salesman called with the good news that my car had arrived to when the "At Your BMW Dealer" status was achieved on the website.
Picking up this coming Saturday by the way. Can't wait!! |

just a question, has anyone ever changed colors after ordering? I ordered 2.5 weeks ago, wondering if anyone thinks it's possible to change the color now or is it too late?

Until you hit 150 Status, changes can be made. Has nothing to do with how long ago you placed an order.

my configuration on the site was wrong from the beginning and never updated - but my X3 came as ordered - so I wouldn't worry about it

Congrats on your enlightened color choice. I honestly do like the VR color and it looks much better on the car then in the tiny BMW sample book. It’s a color that, I think, compliments the “sculpted” lines of the X3. |

Thanks. Your pics are great, mine should look exactly the same (Vermilion Red with X-line trim) My first 4x4 was a red '91 Jeep Cherokee Sport and I loved that car. Metallic colors really do show off the curves of the new model.

New Order
When I ordered my X3, the same thing happened to me. They didn't update the color or the options until they began production (which was 6 weeks later!). I ordered on December 27th and my car is supposed to be "finished with production" today (February 15th). Vermillion Red for me! I have no idea how long it will take to ship to Oklahoma. Can't wait!

So, I checked the website and today my X3 is still "on order", but the picture of it is now Vermilion Red (it was white before). When I was at the dealer 2 weekends ago, he showed me a screen that seemed to suggest that my car was guaranteed to begin production on the 11th.
If it goes into production tomorrow, where do I stand in regards to the 6NR option? I noticed that if you "build your own X3" on the website, the smartphone integration is no longer available... |

Just like Marla, I ordered my X3 a good 2 weeks ago and still haven't received a production number. Ordered it through a leasing agency because I got the best deal..but so far, the service SUCKS. I guess you get what you pay for.
He tells me not to worry, and that when I get my order number, that is when it is going into production, and I'll have the car in about a month. But I don't know if I should believe him or not. I'm in the states and went with the 28i, space gray, black nevada leather. |

Since the 6NR option does not begin production on the X3 cars until April, you may be SOL.
