AHAHA .05 mystery Steelers6891 you are our Guinea pig

I will be honest my OEM 19s do shake a bit over 90 mph so I always suspect its a balance issue or hub? So maybe a snugger fit may work. However everyone states 66.6 vs random China factor 65.45.

I took my measurements yesterday. It shows 66.5 mm +/- for both front and rear wheel hubs. The technician who did this measurement for me also recommended 66.5mm, and he mentioned that 66.6 mm could cause some vibration issue. Anyway, 66.45 may not be that bad. It could be just paper data. And factory may generate something larger than it.

Great job doing the dirty work. 66.49 and 66.51? So there is some room for movement? Can you measure the wheel itself if its OEM? I am curious what it will show. I cant imagine BMW is giving the "wrong" specs unintentionally.

The 66.51mm in the second picture is the center bore size of the OEM 19" 698M wheels. I’m pretty sure there’s still a bit of human error in those measurements since the tech was just holding a caliper by hand. That’s why I keep saying the real size is 66.5mm.

I’m not sure why BMW lists it as 66.6mm in public specs, but in the X3 technical training manual, the hub size is clearly marked as 66.5mm, not 66.6mm. My guess is BMW might have left some tolerance for wheel manufacturers, since not every factory can hold a 0.01mm precision.

But for experienced wheel brands like Apex or BBS, maybe they just label it as 66.6mm while it’s actually 66.5mm in reality? Only the guys who own those wheels can really confirm that.

I even asked the tech whether the 66.6mm might be a clearance for thermal expansion, but he said normal seasonal temperature changes or daily driving wouldn’t cause metal expansion or contraction at that scale — only extreme heat (like metal glowing red from friction) or extreme cold would. And as you can see, the OEM wheels don’t leave any extra space either.

Thank you that’s great info! We know that 66.6 from the people of the group buy had no fitment issues so we have that. You are measuring 66.5 as well. Let’s see if 66.45 fits?

I guess 66.45mm should still work, since Jason mentioned he’s sold plenty of sets and no one’s ever said they couldn’t get them to fit. The actual size after production is probably closer to 66.5mm anyway.

My only concern with 66.45mm is that after years of use, you might need a hammer to knock the wheel off, since with zero clearance the metal could seize up over time. Unlike the OEM wheels — once you remove the bolts, the wheel basically drops off on its own.

I guess that’s the price you pay for multi piece construction. Cool looking wheel though.

My set from BKU Racing off Alibaba got installed today (on a Jaguar F Pace SVR). Fit, finish, offsets and weight all seem great.

22x10 ET 33 (27.8 lbs)
22x12 ET 41 (31.2 lbs)

Front 275/40/22 Michelins-lightest performance tire in this size
Rear 315/35/22 Yokohamas-at 13.33” wide - the widest tire in this (labeled) size.

Curious how the group order wheels are treating everyone? I plan on reaching out to the vendor personally and want to see if anyone’s had an issues/comments.

A wheel centers on the bolts. The ring has nothing to do with it. It's just a helper during the install/removal of the wheels.

Update:

I just received 2 out of the 4 wheels today. The other two are coming on Tuesday lol. My timeline for the wheels are order wheels 10/2. 10/8 started production. 10/29 they arranged the shipment. Delivered 11/26.

So far i am extremely happy with the quality of the first two I received. Packaging id say is 10/10.

UPDATE: All my rims showed up and seem to be in perfect condition. A few people were asking me about the weight of them wheels. Not an official weight but I have them at 26.4 lbs

not one of the group buy people but I did buy a set from same vendor.

They hold up great, outside of my opinion of the set up I decided on, they cannot honestly be told different from original wheels besides not having the real stickers on the inner well.

I already got some curb rash on one, and from the impact I could’ve swore the damage sustained would’ve been near catastrophic but it’s just barely a scrape, so that speaks to the build quality thus far.

I will say when I put them on in the summer, the tolerance between the wheel and the hub center was tight, one required some shimmy-ing to get it on.

Admittedly so my center cap fitment was also off, and I had to take a rubber mallet to all 4 and some lithium grease, they’re likely on there for the life of the wheel now.

I would be very clear on what you want, and review and double check all the fine detail you want done. They missed a few holes that should have been machined out but oversight from them and also me for not proofing it thoroughly.

Appreciate the detailed update and hope it goes well the rest of the way. If you don’t mind, I’d like to PM you a few more Qs.
