It's certainly a worry given how often the bolts seem to sheer. I've ordered a new 10.9 grade bolt, nut and washer that I'll use in the meantime but I've been actively trying to source 12.9 grade. I have no drivetrain upgrades at the moment.

are the bolts causing diffs to fail. my friend at BMW service said he's never seen a broken bolt but a bunch of broken rear diffs though.

I've never heard of a diff completely failing on its own. The bolts are sheering left and right which causes the diff to dismount. Taking the driveshaft with it.

A lot of people notice noises coming from the differential but it's even stated in the owners manual that they can cause noise when the drivetrain is loading or unloading force. Some dealers will replace it under warranty but most will not. It's hard to say if these cases are really failures or just people hearing the noise and thinking their diff has failed.

Super excited to finally share this setup! I can confidently say this is by far my favor wheel on any vehicle I've had to date. They suit the X3M so well and the combination of form & function is next level.

Advan GT Beyond
20x9.5 et17 (24lbs)
20x10.5 et32 (24lbs)

Nitto NT555rii drag radials
275/40/20
315/35/20

I am pretty much slammed as low as I can go which is causing a slight rub in the rear even after trimming some of the fender liner so this setup is not recommended as a slap on and go. The sidewall profile on these is super meaty being a 315 so if you want something similar that doesn't rub I would recommend a PS4S or something with a more stretched sidewall design. I plan to raise the rear up a touuch and trim a little more but it should be rub free after that.

RW Carbon Front Lip

Newest addition to the M, RW Carbon front lip. It's pretty subtle but I like how it fits seamlessly with the front bumper. Each piece utilizes a couple of the factory mounting holes for the undertray which is really cool. You will still need to drill into the bumper in other areas to secure it.

Good quality and the fitment was spot on. Very pleased!

Very nice! I also got a set, you didn’t have to do any extra bumper hole drilling?

It does requiring drilling. I added a few extra to keep it study since I track the car often and would rather not chance it

Thanks! The tow hook is from Raceseng. It is the G80 M3 rear. It fits perfectly with the X3M front bumper and then I modified the OEM plastic cover so that the shafts fits thru it.

Super excited to share my new set of track/winter wheels for the X3M!

Introducing, the LFI TRS01 Trackspec!

It took roughly 7.5 weeks from the date of the order to delivery in Chicago, IL.

LFI is a rather small company which offers many forged monoblock and 2 piece wheel designs. I came across them on a G8X thread where various members had been running them. After browsing I found the perfect wheel for my needs.

TRS01 Forged Trackspec - Matte Black
20x9.5 et18 squared
Coming in at a whopping 22lbs each!

My plan is to run these with 275/40 Nitto RII's for the track and switch over to Michelin PA4 for the winter. I still have the Advan's but I'm going to put street tires on them to daily drive on. The Nittos are amazing for daily driving but they wear down quick. I take frequent trips around the country so I wanted another tire that will last longer.

Enjoy!

While I ran this a few weeks ago, I forgot I had footage of it and figured it's worth documenting. This run is only .04s off of my fastest pass (done on Dragy) but it stands as my fastest pass in any car I've driven down a track.

I have a few tricks up my sleeve to surpass my PB and hopefully dig deeper into the 9.9s or even 9.8.

More to come!

Wild fast man. How is the smell with the catted downpipes? Would they throw a CEL?

Surprisingly it doesn't smell. Maybe if you're right behind it sniffing the exhaust but I've never been told it smells when someone is driving behind me or anything like that. I don't even notice it backing into the garage. They do a great job.

I haven't tried to run the OE tune or anything and I have it coded thru BM3 so I'm not too sure about the CEL.

Ok cool thanks. I've run catless on my e46 for years and I'm over it. That feedback is encouraging.

Great video and perfect documentation of your PB run! Pulling for you to succeed at the Strip with runs under 10s

And looking forward to some images with your new wheels on - when you share those I'll add your details to the Master Wheel/tire list. :cool!:
