Wait for the higher-end models (N55 powered w/sport package, M-Sport, etc).

Regarding to orange reflectors... Hoping the M-Sport package will be different... but my hopes aren't that high...
It will be major work to R&R the orange reflectors inside the one-piece clear lens of the headlight assy. |

It sits low in the rear like the x6... Seems to need M-Sport, or somehow it just looks plain. I think they did that for a reason, just like they are doing on all the series cars.
The orange market bulbs appear to be removable, and I'm sure there will be an aftermarket fix for the reflector in a matter of no time! |

The M3 is a way better situation. A color matched painted reflector is much better than having to spend $2,000 on a set of euro headlights. The orange reflectors in the headlights is huge headache, just ask any pre-lci E90 owner. You are telling me, you would rather have a permanent orange reflector in your M3 headlights, rather than an easy replaceable reflector in the bumper. I am happy with my IND reflectors. What? There will never be a clear reflector mod. That involves opening the headlight, which is nearly impossible to do. |

I hope to God the X4 has some pop to it, because this is only so special.
I want the drive of a smaller X-Car with looks to go with it. BMW needs to drop the N55 w/the 8 speed into the X1! |

i think in BMW there is a PROFOUND misunderstanding between engineers and engineers on one of the most important design parts of the car: wheel size vs body size. After E39, pretty much every model that followed has had a disproportionately small rims fitted, which required fitting bigger wheels to look good, which invariably leads to very shitty ride in a car that is trying to look half decent. It's rediculous. I know cars grow, but Audi seems to have handled the challenge.
Also BMW of late can't seem to produce a coherent front AND rear designs on same model. X3 here - great from back, utterly boring from front. Only the E92 is an exception with nice front and back. Rest are mismatched.

I wonder how much can they save, if any at all, to have a reflector built in the head light assy. I'll in need of an AWD car for winter driving soon.. from the look of it, the X3 is out... |

^ they don't save anything, but it allows them to make an even more significant change at LCI for the US market...
Wait for the M-Sport or N55 w/sport package x3's, these base base base models are throwing everyone off wack.

and yeah, I don't pay too much attention to the regular X3s. I wonder now... should I go get a new 2011 Grand Cherokee, or wait 'til the spring/summer next year to get a 2011 X3 M-sport... ... |

^ new grand cherokee is a looker, saw one at the grocery store the other day. The commercial for it is pretty good too...
Call me a fanboy, but I don't think I want anything but BMW from now on. I'm still leaning towards the older x3-si just because its basically an e46. I think it would use the same oil filters as my ZHP, not to mention all the switch-gear inside is nearly identical. Prices should start dropping once the new models show up at dealerships... /OT

Have you driven both the current X3, and the X5? Because by comparison the X5 drives like a damn truck. This new X3 might look somewhat bland, but without driving it, I still can tell you it will be far more civilizes than the [HUGE!] X5 could ever be.
