Wouldn't you rather have the reflector in the light cluster? Just get a clear reflector and replace the one in the cluster whenever the mod is available. Or order a OEM Euro headlight cluster from a 3rd party.
Definitely beats having a hole in your bumper you have to fill with some cheap after market part. Ask any M3 owner.

^ ask 1er owners or pre lci 3er owners what they would prefer...
My e46 was simple, pop out the corner, pop in an (oem) clear one, but since most vehicles have one-piece headlights these days, its not that simple. Swapping the entire headlight assembly (with HID's) can be quite costly... I heated my RSX-S headlights up and pulled them apart to remove the reflectors, but again, if someone messes up that could be costly and I don't think owners of high-end vehicle like the idea of baking their headlights in the oven... I don't own an m3 (almost leased one at Christmas 2008 though) but I would imagine I would have preferred to replace the amber lens with a quality aftermarket clear unit, or have a body shop paint the amber reflector to help it fade away. Different strokes for different folks...

I bought a set of Graphite painted reflectors for my E92 and they really weren't that noticeable. Opening up the headlights and removing the reflector would be very difficult as I don't think you could ever seal up the headlights the same. As far as replacing the headlights with Euro spec. Someone on the 1 series board did it and it was major work. Getting them was difficult, as no US dealer is going to order them for you. He had to get them from someone in EU and they are very expensive and a lot of labor went in to switching them out.

Guys, there's still hope that when they remove the camo tape from the roundel's it will say Nissan... If it doesn't then this is one ugly Bavarian vehicle.
