BMW Drive for Team USA Event
I received an email yesterday about this latest test drive event. Although it features their sedans, the X3 is an option also. The email states a "sales incentive" but it doesn't say what that is.
Well I received my confirmation this morning and the incentive sounds a bit better than what was provided from the X3 Challenge event. Here's the text from the confirmation email, hopefully "Drive Off" means an additional $1000 off the negotiated price: "This is an event you will not want to miss. Only registered attendees will receive the limited-time $1,000 BMW “Drive Off” allowance, good towards the purchase or lease of a new 2011 or 2012 BMW model.* And once you have completed your experience, BMW will also recognize your drive with a $10 donation to Team USA." Here's the link to sign up: http://www.bmwusa.com/driveforteamusa |

I see Jason posted this in the general forum. It has the official announcement information.

I also signed up for this event, and the wording in the email does not state it has to be dealer stock, only delivered after particitpation in the event. Also, ED is excluded.

Been there - done that!
Went to one of the dealers I'm talking to and drove an X3 28 and a 535xi.
The X3 had 20" wheels and it felt like the castor and toe in were out of alignment. the primary ride was also not great. You hit a ridge or drain cover and you really notice it. The 535xi was pretty impressive. It felt very well put together. Primary ride was good but it understeers - you really can't steer with the gas pedal at all. The engine is very smooth, but you don't really feel the power come in until you have at least 4000 rpm showing. That engine in the next generation 3 Series would be a pretty nice car if it's lighter than 4000 lbs. |

I was quite agitated about the X3 drive event, but had gotten over it.. until you just reminded me of it and re-opened that festering wound... now I have to back to therapy. Thanks.

It is worth a shot to try and apply the event coupon to an already ordered vehicle...
I ordered my vehicle the first week of June and attended the Team USA Event last week. I talked to the dealership and they applied the $1K credit when I took delivery yesterday! |

I attended the event yesterday, and the person said it would take ~1 week to receive the email with the discount to print out. I expect my car might be ready before then. |

I received the email 3 business days after. Additionally, if you are planning on purchasing the car with that particular dealer that's hosting the event, they will honor it even before you receive the email. Officials from the Driving Event will send two copies, one to attendee, and one to the dealership. Got that info from my CA when i purchased my X3 3.5 2 weeks ago!!
On a side note, anyone know how long it takes from receiving the production number to actually receiving the car itself? im from NYC. |
