2012 X3 M Sport - WILL 5 and 7 Series 20" Wheels fit??
New to this guys! I've researched through this forum and it always gets so confusing throwing out lots of numbers. I am now the proud owner of a 2012 Carbon Black M Sport X3. It was to my surprise it has 18" Wheels.
I want to upgrade to 20" but perhaps even 19"...ANYTHING but these tiny 18's with fat tires. I see the newer 7 series has the same 5 x120 bolt pattern. I'm wanting a staggered stance and only want OEM. Is there anything that would keep the same bolt pattern from fitting? Please keep it as simple as possible in the response...I'm novice and wheels get sooo complicated. The one's I'm looking at are style 361. Thanks guys! |

It's the offsets and widths that you need to worry about. Quick Google search says they are 8" 36mm front and 8.5" 47mm rear and if that's the case they should be great.

ok thanks. So anything with a 8" and 8.5" rear is ok. That actually seems narrow to me. I thought most wheels this size were 9.5 in the back.

3/4 series tires will be undersized. If you're trying to match OEM takeoffs from other BMW models then you'll want 5 series GT or 7 series tires.
I do think though that OEM wheel and stock runflat tires are super heavy especially in the larger sizes so if I were to do it again I would not have gone with 20" OEM wheel and RFTs. Better options out there now especially with flowformed wheels becoming cheaper. |

In the end it's a balance of tire width and wheel offset, assuming of course the wheel widths are correct for the tire widths. Think of it as how much room you have in the wheel well between the suspension on the inner side and fender sheet metal on the outside. Your tire needs to not hit either of those. If the tire is somewhat narrow you have a lot of play with offset to keep it inside those boundaries. The wider you go the more the offset has to be perfect to keep it between those two. Make sense? |

I see lots of 19's but honestly look wise, every X3 I see that I think "THATS A SEXY SUV" has 20's. So basically any listing of wheels off a 5 or 7 series staggered will fit my X3? If the tire is between 8-9.5 inches? |

245/40/20 (27.72in dia) 275/35/20 (27.58in dia) You'll want 5 Gran Turismo or 7 series spec tires. As for wheels I'm not sure - I think another user had said potentially you're going to be dealing with different hub bores. |

You can find charts that show the bore for different BMW's, almost all are the same but there are a few that don't work. You can use hubcentric rings to adapt smaller but it's too much work to machine anything out bigger.
I'd start w/ the M-Sport info above for width and offset. You can stray from there but not too much. But it's a great place to start. If you see something like 20mm lower offset you can cross it right off the list. Gut feel says 5 higher (more inboard) is OK, 5-10 lower (outboard) would be OK, but that's based on some searching I've done in the past and simply an opinion. |

Geez sorry I didn't see this thread sooner... OP, the short answer to your question is YES. I have the same 20" Style 373 wheels on my 2013 X3. Here's the catch.... The 6 GC wheels you posted are going to fit ok, but not ideally. They're 8.5" wide front with a 33 offset, and the rears are 9.0" wide with a 44 offset. The rears sit in a little too far for me, so you'll want to space them out. I eventually bought two more fronts so now I have a square set of style 373, 20x8.5" ET33. This is perfect because it's the same width as the stock 19" M sport wheels and 5mm less offset so they come out 5mm which is good, and I retained the stock square setup allowing me to rotate tires. I still think all 4 should be spaced out, which I've done, just don't have the most current pic.
As for tire sizes, I found the best fit is a 255/40-20, I'm running those in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Anyway, here's a pic...

Oh and one more thing. Definitely get rid of the run flats. I don't have them on my X3. Have a mobility kit instead, much better!

Your X3 looks GREAT!! So it's not possible to stagger the stance if I get 4 20x8.5"? I really like the look of staggered...it's more aggressive look and seems to widen the SUV in the right way. |

If you get 4 of the same size wheels then no, you can't stagger. Staggered wheels refer to when the rears are wider than the fronts. You can do a staggered set but you need to verify sizes and offsets and compare them to the own size. You'll want to make the overall diameter is close to stock too to ensure speedometer accuracy. The only other way to achieve a wider look is to use spacers. I'll try and get some more pics of my wheels soon.
