Hi,
here is the picture of fitting wheels from X5

BMW styling 227 (X3 E70)
10 x 20 ET 40 tire 275/40/ - very close to the suspension
11 x 20 ET 35 tire 315/35/ - close to the suspension but in the same time outstanding from the fender - looks not good

Last picture: 8x18 (OEM) vs 11x20 (X5)

How about mounting on wheels: 8,5x20 and 10x20 - tires: 245/45 and 275/40? This combination may look more agressive, because 40 and 35 profil look a little bit funny to me, when there is no stance at all. I am not going to put any lower springs - this is total daily

There shouldn't be problem with poke etc, should there?
There is around 3% difference to what OEM tire sizes are.

8.5x20 with 245/45/20
10x20 with 275/40/20

Will look a lot better and as your daily it will feel better on bumps or potholes.

Thinking of getting some wheels off a F30, size is:

20x8.5 ET30 / 20x10 ET40

Seems like it will work based on some of the other wheels here. Anyone think it won't fit?

Some great pics in here, thanks for sharing. Personally, I'm hoping to go with a square setup for having the ability to rotate tires. I'd really like to go with a set of 20s, but trying to find the best compromise for front and rear.

I think a 20x9" ET40 is going to be my best bet... Also, looking to stay with OEM. I really like the Style 299 (OEM E70 X5M) but they're 20x10, I think might be too much for the front...

Anyone have any additional thoughts??

szymonr your pics aren't working, can you fix the links??

I found of set of BMW wheels that came off a 2014 7-series. The tire size is 245/40/20 (front) and 275/35/18 (rear)

8.5Jx20 ET25
10Jx20 ET41

It looks like this a pretty common size tire for 20in wheels.

Is this going to fit without rubbing? is it going to look weird if i don't lower it?

7 series, 5GT, and X3 tire profiles are identical. I'd be more concerned about whether or not it'll be flush due to the offsets not being the same. I can't tell if the different offsets will be beneficial or not.

I'm surprised I see many of you putting staggered wheels on the X3.

Usually staggered wheels on an AWD car is a big NO NO.

Factory option has staggered wheels when sport or Msport is chosen. The tire diameters chosen are identical. That means there is not a percentage difference in rolling diameter. The only downside is that they cannot be rotated.

Probably depends on wheel style choice. Some wheel numbers do not come in staggered. These are the most common ones I see around...style 309. I still have them for sale as I went 20" square setup for rotation purposes. But I now miss the aggressive stance of the 275 rear.
Maybe cars sent further north come with square setups as 275 snow tires are not common and do not do as well as thinner tires do in snow.

The 19" stock tire size is in the image above. If you mean what size of wheel width, then usually a 245 tire is on an 8.5" wide wheel and a 275 tire is on a 9.5" wide wheel. As someone else did above , they went with a 10" wide rear and it will still work with a 275 as it falls within the tire manufacturer width range.
