BMW has announced the M-sport Package for the all new 2011 X3. Details:
  • Carbon Black metallic paint finish (exclusive M-sport color)
  • 19 inch M light-weight alloy wheels
  • Sports suspension tuning with stiffer dampers
  • M multifunction leather steering wheel and variable sports steering
  • M gear selection level with short throws
  • Gearshift paddles (with BMW xDrive35i w/ standard 8 speed auto)
  • Sports seats
  • Pearlpoint cloth-leather upholsterly
  • BMW Individual anthracite roof liner
  • M Sport package side skirts, wheel arches and front and rear apron skirts are painted in body color
  • Window surrounds and roof rails are in BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line.
  • Expected to be available from 2nd Quarter of 2011 (subject to change).

Official Release:
M Sports package.

Dynamic and compelling, the M Sports package drives the sporty nature of the BMW X3 to even greater heights. The rich Carbon Black metallic paint finish and powerful 19-inch M light-weight alloy wheel rims set the tone, while the sports suspension tuning delivers the experience.

More Driving tools: the M multifunction leather steering wheel and variable sports steering. The M gear selection lever boasts particularly short throws. In the BMW xDrive35i with standard eight-speed automatic transmission Steptronic, the M leather steering wheel also features gearshift paddles. The sporty suspension settings give you stiffer dampers and deliver precise feedback.

Ergonomically shaped sports seats provide side support against strong lateral forces, such as when cornering at speed. The Pearlpoint cloth-leather upholstery offers a beautifully tactile surface; matching the BMW Individual roof liner, it comes in sleek Anthracite.

With the M Sports package, the side skirts, wheel arches and front and rear aprons are in body colour – for example, the Carbon Black metallic paint finish that is exclusive to the M Sports package. Window surrounds and roof rails are in the high-gloss BMW Individual Shadow Line.

Available from the second quarter of 2011 (subject to change).

So this would strictly be aesthetic or is there also an engine enhancement? Also, from the other post, it seems that the 35, albeit at 300hp, does not have the twinturbo, correct?

This is mostly aesthetic along with sporty suspension tuning. Since X3 35i is based on N55 engine, which uses a single turbocharger with twin scroll technology, I would assume they will provide engine tune just like other models that uses the same engine.

As in my post on the standard X3; great job by the plastic surgeons & fitness trainer on the body! But the face ... the face ...

They got her a new make up artist for her face & nose ...

Yet, still the same;

Oh, I guess this is going to be another few years of the younger sister still having a nice body but having the face of an ugly ducking! vs her older hot (from all angles) sister (X5).

You know ... "They say"... it's what inside that counts (true in many cases); but this time around, the older sister is still hotter on the outside  & phenomenal on the inside .

Okay, seriously, these designs are getting a little too Asian looking for me. Not digging the frumpy curves and rounded corners mixed with the sharp lines.

I don't know, the engine in the Q5 blows. But the Q5 does look good in the S-line package.

I am liking the mini X5M look. Especially paired with the N55, and the 5.5 0-60.

Since when did BMW start watering down the M label? Smacks of Audi's "S-line" badges.

I'm okay with optioning it with M items when ordering, or later from the dealer, but somehow I don't like a sub-model delineation of "M-Sport".

Unless I just read all that wrong, then forgive me.

M-sport or M-tech goes way back.

They just used to wait for the last two years of a model run to release the M-sport package in the US.

Nope the xdrive35i doesn't have dual exhausts.

There is really no reason to have dual exhausts, it has a N55.

6 cylinder vehicles do not need dual exhausts, or split fake dual exhaust...

Love it, I prefer it to the q5 actually...

nice I loved my old Sport pack X3 with a 6 speed manual. Actualy my wife drove it more than me and loved it. I am disappointed you cant get a manual trasmission so this car is out of the question for my wife. She WILL NOT get a car if it does not offer a manual transmission.

This looks great. I would expect that all 35i engine vehicles in NA will come with this from the factory. Much like the MB GLK, they all come with the sport pkg is you opt for the larger motor.

I want to see one in red now...:D
