Am I correct to assume there will be little change from the 2026? Most searches move to the IX model but I am not interested in that. I will be shopping a new x3 or possibly x5 (new model-bumps and bruises) in early August.

Whether a little change or not, I was told by the experts at my delivery in Spartanburg 3 weeks ago that 2027 X3 will drop the iDrive with the mouse turn wheel in the center console.

I wouldn't expect a exterior LCI before 2028 or 2029
Most likely they will do some changes on the interior.

Artdnj wroteEverything what you can do today with the wheels in the G45 can already be done by touchscreen.Replaced with touch screen controls?
I thought I might use it more often but tbh I find myself far less fiddling around in the menus than on my previous G01. I mainly use the touchscreen or voice commands.
I was a real fan of the iDrive controller in the G01, but won't realy miss it in the G45 if it wasn't there. Part of that is due to less usability of the controller in the G45.

In case anyone is planning the purchase of a 2027, production of the 2026 model year will continue through November.

Modelyear change for X3 in Spartanburg USA was usually in August and for Rosslyn South Africa it was September.

Ravenous666 wroteMy dealer showed me the sheet for production end of all US models in 2026. I was thinking I might want to wait for 2027 since the individual paint wait is so long, so I was given this information. It's consistent with the future model thread that mentions an updated powertrain for the M50 in December.Where is this information coming from?

WhoopieCat wroteIs this type of date change common? I was anticipating the order/price guide for the 2027 Model to be out by the end of May, as it was last year. The model year change for the X3 is usually in August for the USA. Why would BMW need to extend the production date?In case anyone is planning the purchase of a 2027, production of the 2026 model year will continue through November.

I really wanted to build on the good vibes from my MY23 X3 but there's really nothing compelling in the pipeline from BMW for me!

G45 X3
In production until 07/32 with LCI in 12/28.
12/26: M50 gets a powertrain update

WhoopieCat wroteThat’s interesting. I bought my 2026 X3 in mid-September 2025. BMW has always introduced new models in late summer or early fall. Truth be told, we don’t use the iDrive controller much, except when I’m forced to do a lot of scrolling down or across the big screen. Another truth to tell is if I was buying the 2027 X3 with no iDrive wheel I would be disappointed because a big screen, with both touchscreen and controller is an IT geek’s dream. In case anyone is planning the purchase of a 2027, production of the 2026 model year will continue through November.
Bottom line: the iDrive controller isn’t really that useful.

If I go with the M50 in Aug I may have quite the dilemma, 26 vs 27...It will probably come down to price as I can wait a few months if necessary

If you're leasing, they'll subsidize your last few payments. It's worth a phone call.
