I have the following problem with my X4 35i from 2016 with the well-known N55 engine:
When I park the car warm and want to start it again after about 30 minutes, the engine has short difficulties to start and chokes, furthermore it smells very strongly of fuel for a few seconds.
I have already replaced the following items:
- High pressure fuel pump (Bosch)
- Fuel control valve (Bosch)
- Battery (Varta)
- Valve cover (Elring)
The spark plugs (Bosch) and the ignition coils (Delphi) are only about 19k miles old.
I have already endoscoped the cylinders after warming up the engine to see if an injector is leaking, but all cylinders and spark plugs look dry.
When I look at the live data with ISTA+, I can see that the high pressure in the fuel rail is only 150psi after approx. 30 minutes after switching off the engine. Is this normal that the pressure is reduced and if so, where does it go if the injectors seem to be holding tight?
It would be great if some experts here could exchange ideas with me and share their thoughts on where the problem might be.
