Has anyone seen the spare tire option? It looks like it raises the cargo area floor with the piece of bright trim at the front. Any hands-on experience with how much space is lost?

you get a spare tire and don't have run flats.
There is no "extra" space under the cover.

Thanks. That is interesting as the BMWUSA build function does not show any non runflat tires available at all. Do they just substitute but don't reveal this beforehand?

Any experience with how much space is lost in height? It looks like a few inches thick. Thanks!

Mine showed the option but they sent the car with run flats even though I selected non. There is a little room for something’s inside the tire rim I’ll take a pic . I don’t notice much space lost and it’s way better than run flats

Tools in the side pocket but in the tire I got first aid kit, battery air pump, battery jump starter and my breaker bar with 17mm long socket just in case and tire plug kit all fit in there as it’s upside down

What I've noticed is that you can't order non-runflats on a 30i. You can on an M40i. But even then, sometimes you have HeatJoey's experience and don't get 'em when you've ordered them.

Also: you lose 3", but you'll never notice it.

Just to confirm, they include a jack?
Thanks.

Yes and a wrench , although if a lug is real tight I like to have my breaker bar . I also torque my lugs by hand after anyone works on it even if they say they did it to spec by hand lol. Besides it’s only 250$ option and so worth it, run flats alone are not enough , I much rather have a spare and non run flats just me personally

I like the idea of putting the spare in up side down. Never thought of that.
Thanks, now I have room for the hitch parts.

The black straps holding the tire down, did they come with the spare tire option or did you purchase that yourself?

I didn’t have to do this, it came from factory like that but if it didn’t, yes turning it over adds some room since it’s tight down there with the spare option

It all came like that with straps and upside down, alll I did was add as much “stuff” as I could in there under the straps lol… it’s enough room for some essentials plus there is a healthy side pocket

I just flipped mine over and yes, it's meant to be upside down as the foam has places for the wheel openings to fit in.
Now I have lined it with a blanket and fitted the hitch, receiver, ball sac with room to spare.
This has been an "ah ha" moment if there ever was one.
Thanks again.

The only thing I think is kinda annoying about getting the spare is that my groceries always fall out since my driveway has an incline. I had milk explode after hitting the ground when I opened the trunk for the first grocery trip.

Love the C's always have to try twice with the As

Try the WT holders. They work good, just take up room when not using.

How does having the spare cause that to happen?

Every other car I've had has more of a lip where the trunk starts which keeps items in. Mine with the spare doesn't really have that.

There are many different plastic collapsible/folding grocery crates you can bring along for shopping. Check Amazon and I've seen them for sale at Costco. I've found these very handy and they hold everything in place from the store to home. I've used this system for years.
