Looking to pick up a scan tool for reading codes - what do you recommend
I already have Bimmercode and the recommended CX OBD bluetooth adapter
Is there a tool I can use with this adapter or do I need to buy something else?

If possible, I'd like it to be compatible with my older E90 3 series as well.

If you have Android, then IMHO to keep this in a app (for portability), the bimmergeek's PROTOOL. Hands down best, once you add the E series.

Everything else, ISTA.

I use BimmerLink, I like it.

I recently “upgraded” from the bluetooth OBD adapter to a wired OBD to ethernet to iPhone lightning adapter and it’s infinitely better. Extremely fast to code using BimmerCode

Wouldn't hurt to get a cheap Android as an investment? :D

I went the other way around, because mine is 2019 MY, i have to have dedicated (cheap) iphone (actually was daughter's older iphone SE 1st gen) for carplay use. Lame...

But seriously i use PROTOOL more with my E cars than with G01.

If you are looking for just diagnostics then I have found the BlueDriver and Carly to be fine. If you are looking to code, go wired if you can, I don't trust wireless connections when doing something like that (but that is the just old school tech geek in me).

This is probably what I’ll go with since I already use Bimmercode and have the CX Bluetooth adapter which have both been great.
Have used both on my X3 and e90 with great success

… I see you also have an m40i, me too but prelci, great vehicle!
