Since it's been a while not posting anything on the forum, hopefully this could help someone to get an idea for this little modification lol.

My 2016 BMW X4 M40i, surprisingly it came with iD5 HU but I was kind of sick with 8.8 inch display without touch screen.

After reading this discussion then I think it's time to do something fun.

Here is the original. Well, normal but boring.

G30 Touch Screen part#: 65-50-6-810-511

I found a good deal on eBay, or you may find it in somewhere else.

Remove the factory 8.8inch screen and disassmble it, I only need the factory frame to install G30 touch screen.
Of course there are some cutting works are needed to fit the new screen well. Then put everything back to the vehicle.

Coding is needed, just the resolution settings for the new display. You can easily done it by BimmerCode or Esys. Not so hard I can tell.

After the modification, well, worth it! Much better driving experiences compare to the factory 8.8 inch non-touch screen. And be honest, it totally looks like from factory lol.
