Hello guys,

I had the chance to drive a little the BMW X4 xDrive35i, European spec model, produced in 2014.

It has the 3.0-litre engine and the 8-speed automatic gearbox.

I made a short video for my YouTube channel and blog. Hope you like it! :party0030:

adimfx: Very impressive -this shows why I don`t like diesels - they will die at 4700rpm.

I will get my 35i next week :o

They will die around 4700 rpm, thats correct. But in this case (35i/35d), the diesel is quicker ;-)

Do all the x4 have launch control including the 20i/20d?

Richi: I know - but I do not like diesel sound, and 5 sec to 100 kph is good enough for me.

Currently I have a car with 1550 kg, 225 bhp and 350nm- 5 speed manual (SAAB 9000 MY 97). Even with 1800+kg, my X4 will outrun current vehicle due to extremely fast shifting and 8 gears.

Nice for those days when you want to sit up high, pack the back with lots of stuff, or drive to the ski lodge.

I'm curious if the Performance X4 model will share the engine with M2 :D

The diesel is quicker;........

Amazing, this thread has lasted a lot of hours without a single X4 hater post.

When it comes to BMW, I like the 3-litre diesel engine (no matter the power output) as much as the 3-litre petrol. Both of them are great engines to drive and to listen.

Have fun with your X4! It's a real nice to drive car and I'm sure you will enjoy it!

To be honest, I don't know. The smallest engines with Launch Control that I had from BMW are 28i (428i Convertible) and 25d (X5 xDrive25d). I don't know about the namplate 20d/20i...

The diesels are geared such that the torque output at the wheels is the same as with the petrol engines.

Apart from my X4 being practical, having good performance, very good AWD, nice looking, high seating - and above all - easy in and out - it is also a toy :o

Part of joy of driving for me is the 7000 rpm and engine sound in my petrol engine - regardless of 0-60 or 0-100.

I am still waiting for delivery next week to see if steering precision/steering feel is good enough.

Hi this is 30d launch control, 0-100 under 6

drlukas: Thanks - this confirms my decision to get a 35i - even if 0-100 is not really important.

The diesel is using a span of somewhat over 1000 rpm during the acceleration - which reminds me of the auto in the Beetle during the seventies - not to forget the Daf here in Europe. :o
