Should I order iDrive
Seems like a love it or hate it item. I have played with it a bit and think it seems cool and like the look of the 2nd hump. But in the end is it more trouble than it is worth.
The issue that bugs me most is they will not upgrade the software when a new version comes out unless it affects something else in thae car. In the end isit really the cost when you look at all things considered and theother things iDrive does. Would you not get it again? Thanks - Richard in Nashville |

My vote is absolutely yes. I think you will regret it if you dont. Its true they will only update the software if you have a problem with it but a lot of bug fixes apply to all I-Drive versions. If not you can usually just say that you do have a problem and they will fix it without question. |

iDrive isnt as advanced as other navi's IMO, but to me it was a must. i needed a navi and now i cannot imagine driving a car without navi, and without the controls in the iDrive (unless that other car has better navi )

Like some of the other posters have said, iDrive is no where near being the best Nav system. But unfortunately its all we got right now.
Recently I was playing with my friends MB nav system and its amazing how different it is compared to iDrive. In his system you can see an overview of each road you have to travel to your destination. It seems like such a simple thing, but BMW didnt include it in iDrive. I hope the next version of iDrive will be an improvement.

i think it's definitly worth it. true it's not the best nav system out there, but it's certainly beats not having one. Also, if not only for the navigation system, but just being able to having functions displayed on the screen (ex. bluetooth, service status, entertainment....) is well worth the price IMO.

We didn't get it on my wife's car and did on mine. We both will only buy car with it now. I just wish it would respond quicker sometimes.

I wouldn't say its worth the money, for what we pay it should be much better. It our only choice, its all we have.

It's a piece of cake once you get the hang of it. I have the ipod adapter as well and it's nice to see all your music options. Mine works perfectly.
Get keyless Go as well. It's great.

Other option that I will strongly recommend - Comfort Access and BT compatibility.

I would have liked it but don't want to be irritated with my car. I'm an IT Architect and would have a hard time with a slow and buggy interface. If you wuld use it quite a bit, maybe it would be worth it. All I have to do is scan through the titles in this section and there is absolutely no way I can regret it...

Had it on two cars now, my 335i and my '04 530i (idrive, no nav)...wouldn't have a car without it.
