Navigation DVD noisy after 2012 update?

My 2008 BMW iDrive had the 2008 discs, and I bought the 2012 updated DVDs from BMW. I noticed that the navigation has been a bit noisier lately, the DVD is spinning and scanning more. Also it seems slightly slower at times.

Is that normal?

Did you pay the $200 for the authentic one from a bmw dealership? The copies/internet versions are the ones that usually make noises...
