Aston Martin vs. Bentley
Hey guys... I know this isn't a forum for Aston Martin or Bentley, but I wanted to post it on a somewhat neutral forum to ask for your opinions.
So anyways, I am planning to get a weekend car but with some practicality. I have narrowed it down to either an Aston Martin Rapide (since it seats 4 somewhat and has a boot) or the new 2012 Bentley Continental GT (which also somewhat seats 4 and have a descent boot). I am just wondering which one would you guys prefer... PS, the price for both are very similar. Thanks a lot =D. |

I'll need to drive them both to make sure.
(Aston Martin gets my vote thought - there is one out my way and it looks great)

Aston Martin Rapide, even though it has a counterintuitive 'backward" tach dial and no rear seat head or knee room. At least it handles well as opposed to the Bentley and doesn’t come with a VW engine.
At the Aston or Bentley price point you could pick up (4) nicely equipped X3's. With four of them to choose from, you'd have a chance of at least one of them working at any given time. |

Do you need all wheel drive? If you do the Bentley would be the choice. The Aston is drop dead gorgeous though....I don't care which you pick - just post a lot of pics when you bring one home

Personally if I can afford those cars, I'd go with the rapide. |

A few questions:
1. How old are you? I owned my first Aston in my early thirties but would not be buying a Bentley for another 20 years at least (I am 36 now). 2. Have you sat inside a Rapide? It has no room at the rear, and quite frankly the elongated look isn't my thing. 3. Have you considered other marques? If I was looking at the 4 seater luxury market, Panamera Turbo S would be my pick. Ok fine I love my Porsches and have owned many, but this isn't just a Porschephile response. I think it is a better car. I would even buy the CLS63 with the new twin turbo engine over the Aston or Bentley and pocket the change. |

I'd also look at Maserati or even a Ferrari 612. The Ferrari has a stack of rear passenger space and is a great car for long distance cruising or mountain passes. I've looked at both the Aston and Bentley and not been particularly impressed by sloppy finish, materials from much cheaper cars and frankly too much road noise.

I did look at the Panamera, frankly, I do not really like the look of it. Don't get me wrong, it is wonderful to drive and has a wonderful interior, but I wouldn't want to spend $200 000 on a porsche that doensn't look nice. I agree on the CLS63, I just saw one on the road today and it looks pretty amazing!!! But the thing is that I am planning on getting the new S63 when that comes out sometime next year or so, so I wouldn't want to own to AMGs at the same time. Right now I think I am going to side with the Aston, as you said, Bentley might be a little to mature... Thanks a lot for your input!!! |

Bentely is for old dudes!
Aston is for younger people. Bentely is awfully ugly IMO vs. the slick look of Aston. I would definitely go for the Aston... |

A rather strange thread to post on an X3 forum. I am impressed by your wealth.
