My AMG got a new girlfriend!

Nothing ultra exciting, but my wife's new (2nd Gen) X3 got delivered last night.
We ordered it about a month and a half ago--fast turn around, not like my C63 which took 4 months:scared-eek:

Gotta say the new X3 is light years ahead of the old X3s, ride comfort, build quality and all the tech goodies are great.
The new angel eyes are amazing and look purple-ish white as DRL, really cool and eye catching!
We traded in my wife's 2009 e91 wagon for this new family hauler as my family is growing and my wife is tired of loading our toddler into the low back seat of the e91.

Without further adieu , here's the pics before my wife and daughter give it a thrashing!

Looks great in Vermillion Red and Black, with the Dark Wave wood - of course I have to say that given it's the same color combo I havo ordered for my 35i MSport. I am sure your family will enjoy driving and using this X3.

One little nitpick - you might change your sig line to read X3 28i (not 2.8). Both the 28i and the 35i use inline 6 cylinder 3 litre engines. The "names" do not refer to engine displacement, as used to be the case with some BMWs in the past.

Enjoy the new X3.

thanks everyone.

It is the lighter wood, it was a cloudy day so it may show up darker than it is--I liked both woods equally, but my wife liked the lighter one

thanks tuco44, who knows why they name these cars what they do anymore--my "63" is actually a 6.2 and the new CLS and S AMGs have 5.5s, but MB still badges them as 63, go figure.

the garage floor is Race Deck and awesome stuff--highly recommend it

Hey I live in Massachusetts as well ... Question: What do you do when you drive your cars into the garage and they are covered in snow?

Does the snow, rain and dirt just pile up on the Race Deck Flooring?

Years ago I painted my garage floor but have since moved and have been thinking about doing the same.

But Race Deck is a nice option. Curious how you deal with all the junk that comes our way during the winter...

I just helped a friend install a race deck floor in his garage. For that same concern where the vehicles actually are parked we used a tile from race deck called "free flow" I think. Anyway, it was a grated tile that allowed the weather to flow through and to the floor. We used the same colors as in the pics and two 16x9 areas of this free flow tile to park on. Did it in December and the stuff works great. And I know Atlanta isn't New England but I spent 16 years up there and we had an epic ice and snow storm this year here. I'm sure the tiles will work well there too

Nice car combo. I will soon have the exact same. C63 but in iridium silver and either the red or blue X3. Gotta love the German cars (I made the mistake of trying a British car).

my C63 doesn't even see rain, so my side stays clean.

as for her side, the water and melted snow seeps through the tiny cracks in the flooring (about paper thin) and pretty much disapates (they do make the other tiles too with more holes, but honestly not needed).

I sweep out the sand maybe once during the winter and usually vacuum up the rest of the sand in the spring, just because.
It washes up great and easy and it is much warmer and softer on the feet during the colder months.
If you're interested, I can find the website I bought it from and PM you, I got it during a sale (I think I paid around $1500 w/ shipping for a 24x24 garage) and it was super easy to put down, just get a rubber mallet and a few hours and you should be good to go!

Looking good without X-line also, you have to change out your AMG with the new M-5.

Thats not really a practical change unless he is looking for a bigger car. Two reasons people get a 3 series or C class over the 5 series/E class:

1) Money, M5 cost $30K-$35K more than a C63
2) Size, I seriously would love to get a used M5 (2012 model) in a few years but worry about not liking how big it is, I went from a M Coupe to the C63 and the C63 seemed huge, not sure if I want a bigger car.

Thanks for spending my money guys

The AMG is not leaving my garage any time soon, I can promise you that (it only has 2000 miles on it guys, jeez)
And when it does,it will likely be for another AMG (5.5 CLS63, w/p30)

I actually chose the C63 because it was the best fit for what I wanted (not because of budget restraints).
Actually, I was torn between the E63 and C63, but chose the C because it felt more nimble and faster (I have the P31 pkg).
I felt like the C63 was more youthful and fun to drive and my C63 loaded up stickered for $82K+, so I could have stretched the budget if I really wanted the E or M5, but the C63 spec-ed out the way I did, fit the bill perfectly and I love that car the same as the day I brought it home

I never cared for the styling of the e60 and I'm glad to see it gone, I can't say the same for the V10, that was/is a great engine!

I've owned 4 new BMWs over the years and a couple MBs and I respect the M division, but AMG is really producing cars that are more special and beastly than BMW M is at this time--this is my opinion and I realize where I'm writing this
Don't brush off AMGs, they have evolved quite a lot in the past three years and produce a beautiful line up of cars that rivals any of the M cars being produced currently, IMO--anyway, back on topic I jacked my own thread
