Test mule things. Here’s the new (at the time two years ago) X1 in the same flavor.

Is that a glass roof? Sun shade inside and no lines on the outside front half.

Ooooof loving it . Perfect proportions imo
And is it me or it doesn't have the snake eyes DRL a la X5 . More of an L shape which is great, thank God

Nice armrest too w/ the stitching . Don't fumble this one BMW and this shall be my next daily or future wife's.

The dash is awful, IMHO. One big iPad touch garbage that is just lazy design engineering and when that thing goes, look out. On the plus side, the better half won't want this new model. The "dash as an iPhone/iPad" phase can't end fast enough...👎

All I can focus on is this massive screen with smudgy fingerprints all over it. It makes the clean freak in me want to scream. I still don't understand what was so wrong with buttons.

Sigh.

An XM-esque design at 1/3 the price. I like it.

Looks really nice inside. Makes previous gen non-refreshed interiors look pretty dated. Luckily idrive still has the physical controller available so don’t have to touch the screen.

When there isn't much competition, they can just keep getting cheaper and trashier.

That’s a pretty big space in the front of that center console. I assume it’s for the cup holders and wireless charging tray? I like the flat bottom steering wheel. Seems like this is the direction of BMW for its newer models.

Thanks for sharing!

Will the m have a proper shifter? Or it's just going to be the tiny switch from now on out?

Tiny switch. I will say it opens up the center console space. No more going up and over the shifter to cup holders etc.

I hated it at first, but I've grown on it. Downside is no more shifting gears down there, solely paddle shifters.

Oh yeah, I'm sure they're going to be going back to knobs and buttons as soon as they figure out that boomers don't like iPad screens. Just a matter of time. They'll be switching back to cassette decks too, just to add a few more buttons into the fold. And maybe the roll up windows! Those really provide tactile feedback!

Well put sir.
If you ask these nostalgia driven folks, we would go back all the way to Ford Model T.
Also, the absolute worst interior in BMW history is E90.

Wish the standard shifter would return but I'm relieved to see the iDrive controller...and in glass form. Only thing I dislike is them throwing that steering wheel into more models. That should be a "full" M thing only.

But either way this car will be a winner.
