Rear dash cam placement - X3M

Just a quick question

I've ordered the Nextbase 522GW dash cam and rear cam for my Dad's X3M here in the UK

Going to get it fitted sometime just after Christmas

The front I'll be fitting just in front of the RVM so it's out of sight/neat/tucked away etc and the cables I'll feed via the headliner to the A pillar and down etc

But where's the best place to install the rear dash cam; on the glass itself or is there a better location?

Cheers

You can see in my post here https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...&postcount=118 where I positioned mine. It unobtrusive when looking out the rear screen, didn’t want it blocking the rear view by placing it in the middle but the downside is in poor weather it faces out in an area not covered by the rear wiper.

Cheers for that

Need to find one of them mounts

I've got one for my F31 but can't see them listed on eBay anymore; typical!

Yeah I don’t think they are for sale anymore, I’ve looked too. Shame as they are much better than the bulky Nextbase mounts.

The only thing I changed from that install post was that I changed them both to switched live fuse locations as it was causing electrical shut down issues on permanent. Since changing to a switched live I haven’t had a problem.

I've found the F31 one again on eBay so have ordered that and will see if it'll work (can't why why not)

For now I'll be connecting them to the 12v sockets as I've done with my F31

They switch off soon after the cars locked; so no concerns over battery drains etc

What’s the F31 on eBay you’re referring to?

why not just buy the drive recorder package online? It records all 4 corners for 20 sec before and 20 after a collision.

I've already bought the Nextbase package; it's more than enough for what's needed thanks
