I wouldn't be surprised based on what BMW has been putting out lately

I went from a 2020 to a 2022 X3MC and I could not agree more with their comments. The ride quality is much improved on the 2022 version. The performance is even more crazy for an SUV this size with that much room and practicality. Perfect as a daily! |

We looked at a new X3/4 M to replace our X4 M40i and ended up going for the 23 Macan GTS. PDK, air suspension and looks were a factor.

A friend owns a run of the mill Cayenne, and I was driving an X5 40i while my car was in service, so I got to compare side by side. The X5 was really nice overall, and I thought the engine was better than the Porsche engine, by quite a bit. But in terms of handling, steering and brake response rates, and general calibration of the controls, Porsche simply does it better. Significantly so I might add, and it usually is reflected in the price. The 2023 Macan GTS is much improved over last year’s model apparently. I have zero doubt it will drive better than the X3MC, and I fully expect the engine will not be as good as in the BMW. These cars are different enough, it allows you to appreciate one aspect or the other. There really is nothing to hate here, you pay your money and you make your choice.

So, their review of the 2020 they complained about the off-the-line initial acceleration. In that same video they added a small segment about allowing the boost to build longer.
In the 2022 video, it seems like the performance launch is making the driver hold longer for boost build and the acceleration is much improved. So, for the 2020 model year, is it true that allowing boost to build longer than the dash says to results in better initial launch? |

Just coming out of a X3MC myself and absolutely no issues. Used as a daily through Chicago winters and up to 36,000 miles. Built quality was top notch. That is why I got another (new) one a month ago…. |

For me it was build quality in the macan. It's just eons ahead. I find BMW SUVs just aren't there for some reason.

some random door rattles in the drivers side rear door. took a few attempts to fix. the cosmetic stuff should have never left the factory. and to be fair porsche has its own share of issues (weak sirius xm antenna) i've come across but not to the degree my bmw had. |

Haha. The X3M is definitely better than the Macan when it comes to bang-for-your-buck and tech/ergonomics, but otherwise I give the edge to the Macan as well. I really enjoyed the X3M I drove, but I do feel the handling and steering of the Macan are a cut above. It comes at a massive cost delta though for similar performance figures.
The X3M is one of the only CUVs I like. I can't believe it comes from the same manufacturer as the lazy couch that is the G05 X5.

PDK makes everything better... I've owned both, A Macan, and currently a 20 X3MC. The build quality of our X3 is top notch, both comfortable, as well as nicely appointed. The build quality on the Macan was in a word... Tight. What I mean is there was never a squeak, rattle, misalignment of body panels, or cheapness felt throughout.
I've owned 4 different Porsches, including a GT3, 2 Turbo S's as well as the Macan we daily drove. I believe both are nice cars, but Porsche is a far superior driving machine over anything except my Mclarens. Having said that, I do love this X3MC for many reasons, and plan to keep it a bit. |

No, I don’t think they are. Porsche makes terrific cars like the 911 GTS and Turbo S as well as some totally overpriced dailies like Macan, Cayenne and Panamera. Let’s compare. The F97 is less expensive, quicker, more powerful, has gobs of tuning potential, has better tech, has much more sophisticated powertrain cooling, and has vastly more interior space, and also vastly more cargo space than the Macan GTS. The Macan has quicker transmission, sharper handling and a softer, more compliant ride. It also has that magnificent Porsche badge and, sadly, that’s all that matters for many Macan buyers. When a sales rep gets promoted to a key account manager, buying a Macan is usually at the very top of his “to do” list.
