Deletion of contactless tailgate operation

Some (all?) May/June builds have the "S32X" option which is the Deletion of the Contactless Tailgate Operation.

Has anyone asked their dealer/SA if this can be retrofitted? I'm assuming this is the kick to open/close function.

I saw a recent 2022 X4 on a dealers website and it showed the window sticker and it had deletion of tailgate kick to open. So many options getting deleted and price increases for 2023. Terrible time to buy a new vehicle.

Yeah - unsurprising and fortunately not complete deal-breakers. I guarantee I'll be cussing when my hands are full and can't kick that shit open!

My June 1 build of 22' M40i removed:
1. Contactless tail gate operation
2. Passenger lumbar
3. iDrive touch sensor

I was a May (week 19) build and I finally picked up my M40i Friday. I asked the dealer if Hands Free Tailgate had been removed, and he said it had been removed off all the X3s that have come in. Then when he grabbed my paperwork, he didn't see it as removed, so we tested it. Sure enough, it was still there. Not sure if lucky or random but I find it super useful with a baby.

Lucky you. My build was further at the end of May (Week 26). I haven't taken delivery yet, but I got a $100 credit for it not being there.

My sales manager didn't know if it is a hardware or software issue. But, we all know a software issue would be the preference for an easier fix.

If it's a hardware problem, I won't bother with it down the line.

You have a Week 26 build? If so, that is this week and not in May. I have a X5 45e on order that's a Week 26 build, and has a production date of 06/28.

My M40i has final prod date 6/10. It comes in with the hands free tailgate open deleted. Wondering if this is something can be retrofitted.

Same for me. May SA build. Dealer un-responsive.

I had a week 26 build, yes. It was produced last week. Sorry, I certainly meant June. It arrived at the dealership a few days ago. I only looked at it and did not try any features, including hands-free opening.

It's a fast kick under centre of bumper, works every time for me.

Just stand as far back as possible so your foot can reach the underside beyond the bumper, do a swift kick directly in the center of the bumper . Works every time for me . I think the car can sense when you're to close to it .

FYI: the removal of the kick-to-open appears to be affecting 2023 models as well. Working on a build for my father in law and for a July-August 2023 M40i build they are showing the "32X Deletion of hands-free tailgate operation" and the 6UX - "iDrive controller Non-touchpad."

They didn't even show a credit for these, so I'm questioning that.

I do see the 688 - Lumbar support option listed, but the car has Vernasca leather, front/rear heated seats, and the front ventilated seat option.

Personally, I find the hands-free tailgate pretty useful on my X3M and use it often.

Considering he's going to have pay MSRP on the car, I'm not too keen on him losing out on features too. Might be wise to wait a bit longer to see what happens.

Yup I’m on a waitlist for 2023 but even if the dealer called now and said let’s order I’d have to say I’m waiting longer. Just too many deleted features going on still. I’m afraid that even when 2023 comes there will still be no guarantee options won’t get deleted. It’s very upsetting.

Does he have a confirmed allocation and if so when did he get it? There are several of us on waitlist eagerly waiting for that call.
