Exhaust Impressions

Did they get rid of the exhaust pops on the LCI, or have the M models never had it? My 2019 M40i seemed to make more noise than my LCI X4MC. Also not noticing a huge difference in sport plus, like I did with the M40i. Thoughts?

Don’t think so. My 2020 x3mc burbles and pops all day long.

I agree. My 21 X3MC burbles a lot. I even had a BMW 550 pull up beside me and ask what exhaust I was running. I told him it was stock and he couldn't believe it.

I had a 21X3MC then went to a 22 before I let that go! There is a difference between the 21 & 22's. Not sure if it's tuning, or slight changes to cabin; tbh I have no clue but there absolutely was a difference which seemed to really be on the inside, still sounds good on the outside.

I'm the end the 21 was definitely louder and more burbles etc. to my ears between the 2 though so I don't think your crazy! Lol

My 2020 non-comp burbles and pops, but it is very subdued from the interior, almost don’t hear it unless listening for it.

I rode in a buddies comp M2 and it is drastically different. Valve closed = normal car. Valve open = Indy 500.

It's well known that the M40i has more crackles/pops and is a louder exhaust overall. Curious move why BMW would do that. That being said I get plenty of noise in Sport Plus, especially on downshifts in D2/D3

I'll DM you on the pricing or your can visit my website. Forum policy where I can't post pricing since I am a vendor.

But, no coding needed and easy to replace.

Does it void the warranty? I am assuming no, but worth the ask.

That you need to ask your dealership or call BMW directly.
I don't know how they decide whether to void or not to void.

I started modding in early 90's where the rule of thumb is "Mod your car the way you want it, and F the manufacturer warranty".
So, until today, I still live by that rule and I have more fun that worrying about the warranty.

Are there any comparative videos showing direct comparisons to the stock exhaust? Curious. I don't want this to be too much louder than stock on non-sport mode (when the Mrs. drives) but want the added volume for Sport or Sport +.

^^^^ This 1000%!

My wife is super hard to work with on exhaust & car sound. I put Ben's mid pipe on and it woke everything up especially under mid/full throttle. Bottom line is if you drive it in sport plus, etc. it's loud for sure, but no drone.

You CAN tame it in efficient and close the valves ( I disabled ASD too) and you'll still hear it but not nearly as bad. It's one of those things tbh you'll probably just need to try or not. All the videos I watched didn't do it justice irl at all.

Just my little .02 since I went back and forth on it before too! lol
