What's the cheapest way to ship tires... ?

I've got a nice set of X3 M wheels & tires here. But the shipping costs with tires mounted onto big heavy 21" wheels is pretty crazy in price.

And advice or insight on how to make this decently attractive for my potential buyers... ? I've got a nice Fed-Ex account. But it's not wholesale type unfortunately.

THANK YOU in advance!

there is only one way - wrap them up nicely and ship
because of the dimensions and weight the X3M wheels cost around $500 coast to coast

Is that for a full set with tires or without... ?

I don't understand why more people don't take advantage of the far far far far cheaper amtrak express shipping:

https://www.amtrak.com/express-shipping

IIRC it's like $200 for a set of wheels with tires. You have to go to the amtrak station to drop them off and the person you're shipping to has to go to their amtrak station to pick them up within 48 hours of arrival (or they charge usurious holding fees). It takes about a week coast to coast.

That said, if you follow my link you'll see the service is suspended (likely due to COVID-19). Hope it comes back soon.

These wheels & tires weight 65-68 lbs each. So that goes over the 50lb weight limit (per item) in their rules. For a smaller set of wheels & tires that may work.

Interesting! I've shipped mounted tire/wheel combos before. Maybe they changed the limit.

Shipped a set of M5 343's with tires. Fronts weighed 50, rear set was 55 each. Total weight was just over 210. Shipped with my FedEx act. FL to TN, was $318. They picked up too, so no screwing around with having to load and drive to drop off.

That pretty good in terms of price. These X3 M wheels are much heavier so they're going to be almost $60 each. And that's without the tires.

I was talking about the weight of the wheels (see quote above). Not the tires.

For the cheapest shipping, you can print the label yourself and find a coupon code for UPS. Sometimes they even post it on their site...
I'll have to check UPS out. But 99% of the time they cost more then Fed-Ex. And Fed-Ex isn't cheep either (for tires).

About 6 months ago I shipped a set (4) Mercedes ML350 19 inch rims from St Louis MO to Maine for 275.00. I think it was Fed Ex ground. That was with me just dropping the wheels off at the agent and they wrapped and shipped them. Two wheels per box

That's a good price. For all four wheels though... ?

Tires surely would've costed tons more & I use Fed-Ex too. (I have an account there)
