I picked up my new car today, despite it being a rainy day - but I had the day off from work and figured to take care of everything today rather than the weekend. This is my 6th X3 in a row. Maybe I'm boring, but I just don't tire of this model! Unfortunately, due to the rain, I don't really have any great pictures outdoors, so enjoy these mediocre pictures at the dealer and in a parking garage! LOL

From order to pickup, it took almost exactly 1 month.

I liked my steering wheel cover that I had on the 255 wheel from my 2018 so much that I put it on this steering wheel. :) I didn't have any problems with heat or touch sensitivity with my 2018 - hopefully that is the same case here. Seeing that the original wheel is exposed so much, I don't think it'll be an issue.

I don't know if this was serious but...

1) I'm obviously not parked, but just stopped there for the pictures where the lighting was decent.
2) The shopping mall to where this parking lot is for was closed (I have a pass).
3) The parking garage was just about empty.

Really? I hope it was positive. :) I've been a customer of there for quite some time now and generally have been pretty pleased.

Actually very. My parents are still on Long Island, long time Rallye customers themselves. No complaints from them either.

Any particular reason for the use of a steering wheel cover on such a beautiful and supple wheel?

No rational reason, I guess. It's strange - when I first used the wheel - it felt nice and of good thickness but wasn't as thick as when I had my cover on the 255 wheel and I got so accustomed to the wheel cover. So, I just happened to put the cover on the M sport wheel and now it is super thick and it felt pretty good in my hands. I figure I'll see if my hands get tired, and when the novelty wears off. :)

I'm sad to post an update to this as it's only been 3 1/2 weeks since I picked up my car and I'm barely halfway through breaking it in, but I got the dreaded "Drivetrain malfunction" error message.

Basically it started with Steering Assistant, Side Collision warning, and Pedestrian warning all failing... then immediately got a message "Chassis stabilization", and like 2 seconds later, got "Drivetrain malfunction" and something about the car not able to be started. These messages all happened in about 10-15 seconds.

I pulled over and I think the damned ASS turned my engine off and boom, was not able to start the car and it was basically a brick. Needed BMW Roadside Assistance. I had literally just gotten off a bridge and am lucky it happened when it did, I guess.

What a buzzkill after getting the car and it's not even a month. I never had anything like this happen with any of my previous BMWs so I guess it was my turn - but so soon! I was being so gentle with the car, too.

Hey JSY. I have a feeling it's a weak battery. I've seen and heard having multi errors due to a weak charged battery. In the F25 forum, these errors are due to the battery, especially if you drive very short distances or the vehicle sitting for a long time. The battery drains, especially with today's vehicle electronics. If you have a garage and don't drive long distances every day then get a smart charger.

Bummer! Hopefully the dealership will get you all squared away and good as new under warranty work.
