Adaptive lights question.
Morning all.
Drove in the dark last night and didn't notice much trickery with the adaptive lights. Are they automatic or do they need to be set? I used the A setting on the light switch. On our Macan we had to tell it to be adaptive.

Press the button on the left hand column stalk to activate the adaptive high beam, when you do half of the on coming cars will flash you if it's anything like mine, I've never had so many people think I'm blinding them.

Not sure if they are as good as the matrix LED lights I have on the Audi as BMW's equivalent of them are the laser headlights which aren't an option on this model.

Nobody has flashed me on mine yet with adaptive on. Use it all the time 👍

It happened again, I'd stopped using them due to it, I tried again tonight and got flashed not by everyone but a few times, very odd.

i havent been flashed in the f31 - they worked really well
only used them once in the X3 and didnt get flashed. Got flashed a few times without them on (lights seem to aim high?) you should know if they are on - the blue high beam sign illuminates |

That is odd. I have honestly never been flashed. No idea if there is any form of adjustment, but the whole point of them is that they turn off select LED's. I assume you have the light on the dash with the "A"?

It's not my first rodeo with adaptive lights, but these do seem to annoy some of the on coming traffic when in adaptive high beam mode on my car.

I love them. It's awesome watching a mysterious shadow move around to shroud cars in front so you don't blind them. On rare occasions when I get flashed I'm pretty sure nobody is being blinded, they just notice the roadside is so well illuminated that they assume you must be full beaming them. I'm sure in rare occasions it makes a mistake, but I was driving down narrow dark roads in Surrey last night passing umpteen cars and they worked flawlessly and no flashes.

They are motorised. The beam gets angled around to point away from traffic as needed. You can see a shadow move around the road to track the car Infront. It's not just an on off, or tracking corners as you turn, though they do that too.

God knows, they might be badly aligned I guess, the car hasn't been washed for 3-4 weeks and is filthy including the lights.
I just think that higher riding cars with LEDs can give people the impression you've got your main beam on, but then again I'm the only one having issues it seems.

Check Owner's Manual
P. 165 US Owner's Manual has instructions for adjusting the sensitivity of the high beam assistant. Don't know if the UK Owner's Manual is the same but it should be in there somewhere. You could also probably search the electronic version using i drive.
