Are Fogs able to take 100w bulbs
Hi All I have an X3 with Active heads and it has fogs which run 55w halogens, I tried replacing the fog bulb's with LED's but when they first light ie when turning steering they would Flash on, I have noticed that when the Halogens first light they are dimmer then brighten so I am assuming this may be the cause of the flash.
I have discovered some 100w halogen bulbs and I am wondering if anybody has tried these or is it possible the extra powered required may be too much. Thoughts Please?

They'd likely blow the fuse. Better off trying LED bulbs with "100W" luminance equivalency, if you can find them.

Stay away from 100w Halogens since you could fry the electrical components and or melt the housing.
I believe you need to code the FRM to tell it there are LEDs for the fogs to work properly. Most LEDs are going to put out less usable light then the stock Halogens so do your homework before buying them. |

Thanks Pungo I wondered if there could be repercussions like that, I did code the FRM to LED's and the Temps, I will have to try to find a LED that won't flash on Low Power

I use resistors on my LED fogs and have them coded for LED versus incandescent. Some people have success turning up the voltage via coding in addition to the usual coding to eliminate the flicker.
I haven't had to bother with the voltage trick due the the resistors, but others have simply increased voltage to like 13.3V or higher and that seems to solve it, too.
